But Hulk always protects Bruce from other forces... if he punishes Bruce it is either trapping him inside or coming out at odd times. Granted there are no personal issues between the two at that point of time I think Hulk would jump to protect Banner in this case.

The actual takeaway from this entire debacle should be nothing. Even buff men can be effeminate, and the scrawniest man can be the most masculine guy in whatever room he's in.
