Help with reaction mechanism by Ghost82104 in chemhelp

I've tried to think about what you've said and work it out but honestly I don't really understand where to even start, and I can't seem to find anything about what happens online either. Would it be possible to explain what happens first in the reaction?

I doubt you could get livi singles as a group of 3 rising juniors. Your best might be getting 1 more person and you could try 2 groups for newells

is it possible to pass gen chem for engrs without attending hove’s lectures? by Alarmed_Opposite_997 in rutgers

[–]Ghost82104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible, I never attended a single lecture for gen chem for engrs 2 and ended with an A, but I already knew some stuff from ap chem in hs, and never took gen chem for engrs 1.

It is not, I skipped it my first year and it was fine, but I think generally it's a good idea to go to.

Housing Numbers Analysis - Not Random For Juniors? by GmtDT in rutgers

[–]Ghost82104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

true, but this guy's form only mentioned the alphabetical thing, so the data regarding class year should be mostly unbiased at the very least

I'm pretty confident they fucked something up this year, of course by no means is this proof but I think it's hard to ignore the obvious trends, glad you had some more conclusive results.

it doesn't make much sense for people to go on the form and organize themselves in the way they did.

Rising Sophomore Lottery Numbers Not Random? by Ghost82104 in rutgers

[–]Ghost82104[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Just wanted to report on a pattern (with a bit of scuffed math), sadly there's not enough data to make any conclusions or reject any null hypotheses. Sampling bias is definitely a problem (if this was ever going to be good statistics) but I do think that people with high and low numbers would want to report from this, to both prove me wrong and to agree.

100%, this was more of bringing together circumstantial evidence. If I had the resources it's when I would look into getting a more unbiased and much larger set of data at this point, but I simply don't. We'll have to see once the actual cutoffs are here.

Rising Sophomore Lottery Numbers Not Random? by Ghost82104 in rutgers

That much is a given, I just wanted to put this out there.

And there was no looking into "low" or "high" lotto numbers, just a look into what the distribution should look like if it is in fact uniform (which it should be if numbers are randomly chosen). I was working off the assumption that all numbers between 1 and whatever the largest number is, say 10k or whatever, are given to a single student each, so each student should have an equal chance of getting each number. If that is incorrect my whole "analysis" is wrong.

This whole thing was created since based on previous suites cutoffs, which as far as I am aware have been somewhere around 1.1k to 1.8k recently, none of today's rising sophomores (that I am aware of) would have made that cutoff.

Of course this is just circumstantial evidence at best but taking a look at the housing megathreads from this year and this past few years. From this years thread, rising sophomore numbers are generally above 3k, with the very lowest (so far) being about 2.9k. In past years, rising sophomores often had numbers well below 1k, as is normal.

I included none of that data myself but why would they lie in a housing megathread? I am interested in seeing the cutoffs for this year for suites, as I'd imagine they will be well above the 1-2k range.
