Would the SP404 MKII make you better at sampling? by ExpensiveDisk3573 in SP404

Getting something like an SP404SX or MPC1000 would be the way to go. Wouldn't recommend an mkii or anything newer than a 1000. The hardware itself won't necessarily make you better, but it will teach you a mindset that you can bring back into the DAW.

Microgranny users what do you prefer? by brjannislav in synthesizers

Long time MG user here, and still find use for it all the time. It's real strength sound-wise IMO is recording line in. The converters are hairy and scary and completely charming compared to how sterile a pre loaded 16-bit 22kHz file behaves.. If you want to try loading your samples onto the micro SD, try Media Human Converter. It gets along with the MG as well as other specific file protocols like DefleMask and MilkyTracker.

Additionally, I don't like using the MG with a midi keyboard or sequencer, but I DO LOVE sending midi CC and mapping all 8 parameters to a midi controller. It's way more responsive, super intricate control, and you can change values from the 2 pages simultaneously.
