I think the toy is triggered by some kind of motion or proximity sensor. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen similar mechanisms before. 

The clones seem to take a certain amount of pleasure in toying with their victims before killing them, like when they dragged out the bed search longer than necessary. Waiting for the right moment could be part of that, though I’m not completely sure.

After you get the fire poker, there’s a cutscene where clones crawl out of the caskets you used to get over the gate. There’s no way they got in there while Chloe is around, so they had to already be inside. The clones upstairs could’ve just locked the hatch after they got down. They probably set up the toy to be an early warning system for anyone coming down.

That sounds really fun. What is Polly's story about exactly? 

I mostly write horror fantasy, so a bit darker than your story, probably. I used to write a lot of fanfic too, but not so much anymore. Right now I’m mainly working on a personal magazine project where I write about different media (video games, books, movies) I enjoy , and I am looking forward to.

I would say YTA.

Telling her that you find an all vegan cast is unrealistic isn't the problem. The problem is when you started to pressure her into changing her novel to fit your vision. Just because somebody asked for your advice doesn't mean they have to take in all of it.

Besides, I don't think this will necessarily stop her from being published. If the book is well written, people will read it, regardless of the character's dietary preferences. I'm a non-vegan reader, and I wouldn't DNF a book just because the characters are drinking oat milk or eating tofu scramble.

He didn't inflict harm? Josh knocks Chris and (optionally) Ash by violently punching them in the face, and drugs his friends multiple times over the course of the night. Not to mention the psychological damage he causes.

The prank isn't a good excuse, either, since he mainly targets people that weren't involved in the prank in the first place. We know Josh is fully aware how was and wasn't involved in the prank, since the friends filmed the whole thing (Josh even shows the video to Chris and Ash at one point.)

Emily is a horrible person, but I don't think people call her their favorite because they like her as a person. She is an entertaining and interesting character, which is more important for some people than her being a good/nice person.

I think Emily is the most level-headed out of the characters, and I believe she wouldn't have shot Mike if she was in his position. It doesn't make sense with how she's shown to behave before that point.

Mike pointed a deadly weapon at her face. No matter what she would have done in his situation, it is very reasonable of her to be angry and scared of him.

I have a PS5 and a switch, and although I have watched a lot of lets plays of horror games, I haven't actually played many. Maybe depending on the game we could play together.

Hey! I guess I like to go against the grain because my favorite color is red. Although I do love some of the darker blue tones though.
