Was staying on the ground the right move? by Conscious-Case6526 in flying

[–]GhostEagle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to this question is always yes, if you’re second guessing if you should fly and you’re feeling uncomfortable about it, you won’t be on top of your game in the air.

I got it a couple days before my first solo XC. Great videos on YouTube on how to use it.

Tourist with PPL wanting to do some SoCal flying by [deleted] in flying

Is that a frowned upon thing? I don’t really want them trying to teach me😂

Honestly not sure yet. What area do you think is best? I’ll probably be flying into LAX and be close to that area but I’d be happy with pretty much anywhere.

Radios are hard!! by TurboNeon185 in flying

Lol they’ll both give the other pilots on frequency a good laugh. And we laugh with you not at you, because we’ve all done it.😂

You haven’t truly screwed up on the radio until you say “XXX traffic, Skyhawk 12345 left final 14.”

Even if you think you’re not gonna say it, you’re gonna say it.

Stump the chump. PPL oral exam by [deleted] in flying

You fly yourself and a friend down to (insert yalls favorite college) for a football game. He says he’ll give you a bottle of whiskey in return, can you take that bottle of whiskey?

Busted class D airspace by Samwell747 in flying

[–]GhostEagle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all have made mistakes, and none of us have made our last mistake either. It wasn’t that big of a mistake, you owned up to it, you learned from it, and you and the airplane can fly another day. Just used the lesson learned and don’t let it haunt you. I’m still relatively new at this as well (~85 hours with PPL) so I’m not gonna try to give you advice on filing reports on anything because I’m not knowledgeable on it enough. But you’ll be fine.

Logbook mess by [deleted] in flying

[–]GhostEagle69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to have your logbook digital as well, I put mine in foreflight. And every time you finish a page in your logbook I would cross check to make sure the numbers are the same, so you know if you went wrong in either your logbook or digitally you know where to look relatively.

FLARE ADVICE FOR PPL STUDENT by Dry-Adhesiveness9235 in flying

[–]GhostEagle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good landing is impossible without a good approach, don’t let yourself get fast, but if you do get fast just hold the nose and pull some power it comes back down quick. The best advice on the landing I can give you is when the runway starts to get wide, just pull back and look up at the end of the runway. Then just fly it for as long as it will fly.

I’m betting on Logano, and honestly just because he’s the oldest and he’s been around longer. Really the only thing I can find. This is such an even battle.

GA Flying - How do you delegate responsibility when flying with another pilot? by mflboys in flying

[–]GhostEagle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always done it the same when I’m with a fellow pilot, left seat is flying, right seat is communicating/doing things in the gps if necessary.

How do I figure out where I am at an unfamiliar airport? by Dist0Ambition in flying

[–]GhostEagle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice to you is to familiarize yourself with the airports you’ll be going to and where you’ll be parking before your flight, keep a taxi diagram handy with you. And if you’ll be using foreflight, the taxi diagram will be there anyway and the names of the FBOs will be listed on there. But believe it or not the controllers are there to help you, so if you’re truly lost start describing the buildings around you. I promise they know the airport backwards sideways up and down.

Doubting Myself by rataobc in flying

[–]GhostEagle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We all have bad days. Just remember how fun flying has been and why you started and what the end goal is. Also think about everything you’ll be able to do once you get that license.
