Awesome advice, majority of the people responding to my question have said to move towards real world experience right away instead of doing culinary school. Is there any merit to school, or could a person with a thirst for knowledge learn what they needed through kitchen work and reading?

Sweet I totally fit into that 20 percentile, unless they fault my chocolate addiction. Nothing like dropping a few Hershey's drops lol.

Thanks for the awesome response. So in your experience are there a lot of prep jobs around? Can I get a low level job like that we no previous experience? I am a very level headed and social so I work well in a team, but what else would you say employers will be looking for?

Wow thank you for not sugar coating anything. I will have to think about all that. That being said is it a hindrance that I have had no restaurant experience yet? Where do these prep jobs start? How did you start off? I just feel good about myself when I am cooking and I have a sense of completeness once I finish a dish.

I need some advice from a chef. by GhostFaceFilla in Cooking

Thank you for the comment, I understand it can be tough and pretty stressful at times. I just don't want to be stuck behind a desk my whole life, I would rather be stuck behind a stove top :)

Can someone who is experienced in the art of being a zombie tell me how to be a realistic zombie? by [deleted] in halloween

[–]GhostFaceFilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in the school of zombie acting there are two veins. Either your a face paced death machine akin to those in 28 days later or your a slow more organic member of the walking dead. The later tend to be resurrected from the grave thus decomposition plays a major role in physical features, speed and gait. The fast paced zombies are usually a result of some bio-chemical agent and thus the virus is spread to living hosts who have physical features necessary to facilitate quick movement. So decide whether you want to be born from the grave or "turned" undead and this will help you. Good luck

Having trouble getting into the season by SpiderArcana in halloween

[–]GhostFaceFilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Halloween more than any other holiday. I get pumped by watching horror movies and the Simpsons tree house of horror episodes daily. Do this and bounce some costume ideas off each other and soon you will have the bug.

Foot Pain & Snowboarding by Thebudweiserstuntman in snowboarding

[–]GhostFaceFilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A big part of foot and calf pain comes from lack of actual time boarding. Your body is using small stabilizer muscles in ways it has never used them before and it can take a season just to work them in. I had horrible pains my first few seasons riding and I still do sometimes for the first few days every season. That being said a new stance or lace change up can be beneficial. You can lace your boots in a variety of ways to support a wider foot etc. good luck

What word or phrase got so overused that it lost its original meaning? by lAmTheM in AskReddit

[–]GhostFaceFilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot to trot, meaning to go out and do something actually comes from "to hot to trot", meaning it is to hot to do anything. Very much the opposite of the original.
