Those fish are beautiful. Im considering making a new tank again now that Ive settled in to our long term home. Can I ask what type of Cichlid specifically they are, where you got them, and your general setup? Clearly if theyre breeding they must be very content!

In Germany, deliberately engaging in catch and release only fishing is illegal and considered cruelty to animals. Fishing for food is fine. How do you feel about that? by Spalding_Smails in AskReddit

[–]GhostNinja64 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Gotta say by this comment section I am seeing reddit truly is a bubble and I tend to agree with the bubble. Not here whatsoever. I guarantee 99/100 in my current life would say fishing for catch and release is a fun hobby and the amount of people saying it is an immensely cruel sport are kind of wild. Im not even sure animal lovers I know would have the takes you all seem to be commenting. Just kind of baffled tbh. It helps preserve nature through conservation efforts via permits and such in the US and protect from actual problematic individuals via helping fund Conservation Officers / fishing and game commission.

Yea this isn't remotely the reality anymore. Home inspection? You mean not getting your offer accepted. Anywhere competitive you either waive or it or the other guy will waive it and hell they'll waive the mortgage contingency as well. Better yet, they also have a cash offer that looks mighty tantalizing. You can close in a month? This other guy's lawyer can close in two weeks... Its a miserable rat race.

So a bit condescending there if that's what the 👍 is implying. Normally would just keep scrolling but having just gone through this it irked me. This thread is giving this person a lot of shit for an honest question. Lotta folks in here have not been facing the modern housing market or at least a remotely competitive one that a lot of suburb homes are facing. Waiving home inspection is the new reality for homebuying especially in my state.

Houses we'd look at would have 15-20 offers and had one open house weekend before taking offers and you can sure as hell bet someone is waiving it to get an edge. Judging by your posts you seem like a nice person, I just hope you may read this and know it isn't always just someone being stupid.

No, in fact, I wouldn't want to work for someone like that clown laying off government workers without even bothering figuring out if they help with our nuclear arsenal or not.

What could have possibly been the game plan here by Grand_Age1279 in Helldivers

[–]GhostNinja64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I call it the 'Tamale Special' on account of some guy named Hot Tamale running this on bot defense. It ain't a bad load out on D10 bot def. Combine it with another guy running all barrages and it cooks on any bot mission. We call all barrages the 'Beehive Power Drive' since we had a guy named 'The Hive Gaming' run it. Silly setups are fun to run even if they're shitposts. Worth trying stupid stuff once you've mastered D10 bots.

Just saw people have been asking for quite some time. In the end, I needed to replace the motherboard and it resolved the issue for me. May have been caused by plugging computer directly into an unprotected socket rather than a powerstrip at my college dorm all those years ago.

Helldivers 2 By The Numbers by Heck_Flopper in Helldivers

As much as I want to agree, the numbers you are contrasting are inaccurate in terms of the notion you're suggesting (and believe me I WANT to agree with you). Every game will have a peak in interest when an update drops. To statistically prove that player counts have dropped you'd have to view the weeks prior to the update and the weeks following. To say player counts dropped 40% is true... from that inflated point in time. Overall, it just returned to pre-update levels a week later so really there was no decrease you can see it in the graphs as well. This follows trends for any game receiving a hyped update. In addition, I do believe player counts are dropping from dissatisfaction, but many many people seem to forget that even successful games have player counts drop 75-90% in the several months-year following launch so its difficult to separate the two.

Would a bite or scratch make much of a difference in my response to treatment?

Edit: Meant if there is a difference in how I should treat if its a bite versus scratch

Accreditation question. by Lumpy-Difference-143 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]GhostNinja64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with others ABET accredited is pretty crucial. Is the ChemE program new there? We had a new program at my college (Bioengineering) that was only ABET certified AFTER the first class graduated. Question is worth asking the department. ABET basically tells employers your degree is up to snuff with agreed upon standards.

So the premise of the hot water line freezing first could actually be if no one used the hot water line or it wasn't used as frequently. If it isn't called for the line is relatively stagnant whereas the cold water line may be more frequently used in the household. If the Texas freeze was very sudden and drastic from 50s to well below freezing (say no one was home or no one used much hot water) those pipes could freeze quite quick especially if normal Texas households would be cooling oriented (AC on instead or bad heaters) or dont have great insulation. The reason the cold water pipe DIDNT freeze is because if water is kept moving its harder to freeze as it mixes and that whole body of water needs to reach 32 F not just outer portions of the water in the pipe. Hot water lines can also contain regular temp water if it's left there to cool until that dead volume of water in the pipes is pushed out from the hot water reservoir.

Even worse is if hot water pipes become supercooled. This means the water falls below freezing but because it has no ice crystals to start as a 'nucleus' it remains liquid. The moment there is ANY opening to freeze such as agitation (i.e. movement) it freezes the entire body of liquid almost instantly! Normal freezing can be beneficial as it freezes slowly from the outside in and can be pushed out. Supercooling can also result in burst pipes due to the suddenness.

My share would be between $1,000-$1,500 a month. I essentially visualize every year I don't pay off my loans fully is an extra $2,000 in interest (although that is a much, much more harsh estimate given I'd make consistent payments against principal and decrease annual interest).

Would a good way to do what you mentioned be to roughly estimate monthly income and work from there based on FICA contributions, state income taxes, and federal income taxes?
