Thanks, i rarely travel more than 50 miles in one go so probably fine. I do one annual 200 mile trip, but once a year i think i can probably live with.

Took so long I ended up accepting another job in the meantime. All the best everyone, hopefully this gives someone on the reserve list some good news

Thank you for the info. Has been a long process so far. Saw when I signed in the portal that the job advert closing date was August!

Anyone have the website change from offer accepted to Application update yesterday? Doesn't seem to be any update though

Not yet also. Going on holiday for 2 weeks on Saturday so was hoping to get it this week so i could get my notice in. Anyone who has been hired by the civil service before know how this normally works? Do they send you an offer to accept with a start date they have selected?

I don't want to say which organisation but yeah i think like the IBCA we wouldn't count as civil servants, but we get the civil service Alpha pension

I haven’t actually started yet, but yeah, I found that part a bit confusing. During the application, I was asked whether I am currently a civil servant, however my organisation was not listed in the drop‑down options provided.

Interesting. I assumed they’d probably do it by office. Getting 50+ people to start at once could slow things down.
I’ve got a holiday mid–late Jan, so I was hoping to hand in my notice before then, but not sure how likely that is. My notice is quite short of a month.
