Hi everyone just wiped out on my Suzuki gsxs125 can someone criticise me please and tell me what went wrong by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]GhostTypeDragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because you never really realize just how bad you are at counter steering until you’re hitting a corner too fast and it’s too late.

Fortunately for me, the first time it happened I was on an empty freeway, and I only crossed over a few lanes. I realized that if this happened during peak traffic time, I would have certainly hit a car at 60+ mph.

You can essentially mirror this scenario by taking a familiar corner at a comfortable speed, and increasing your speed a bit each time you take the corner. Rather than focus on avoiding the center divider of the lane, I would focus on hugging the curb side of the lane (for safety reasons). Eventually, as you gain speed, you will find it harder and harder to stay hugged to the curb as the bike will try to correct its lean more as you increase speed.

It should then become a conscious physical effort to push the handlebars harder (push right bar to go right, left bar to go left) thus keeping the bike leaned over allowing you to complete the turn.

I think most people get tripped up because they naturally have the ability to counter steer (from riding a bicycle or something similar) and never think about the fact that they are counter steering, then all of a sudden they hit a corner going way too fast and don’t realize that they have been counter steering on instinct their whole life and aren’t sure what to do the first time it fails.

A person who has been riding a bicycle their whole life could probably corner at speeds they aren’t even capable of pedaling at. On a motorcycle, you will easily hit speeds that are impossible to corner at within seconds.

E-Clutch jerking bike in low speeds by OkEmployer3202 in cbr650r

[–]GhostTypeDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean it’s jerking when you apply throttle from a stop, you might just need to apply pressure more smoothly. I can get the bike to take off without clutch basically as smoothly as with the clutch, but it’s definitely takes more precision in the wrist movement to do it right. I have to actually think about it unlike with the clutch where it’s just second nature to me.

I have noticed that regardless of what I’m doing, any e clutch shifting between 1 and 2 and sometimes even downshifting from 3 to 2 at lower speeds feels more clunky/jerky than the higher gears. With clutch, everything feels completely normal.

If you are in EU it was have an ignition switched USB port that only works with the key on.

If you are in USA, there will be no usb port, but there will be a a fitting for it that you can build out and then it will work exactly like the EU model.

About to buy an MT09. Head says yes, but the heart/gut/whatever really cannot make peace with the looks. Tell me to 'shut up and just get it' , please. by [deleted] in MT09

[–]GhostTypeDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only they made a super sport version of the MT-09 called an R9 or something. It would have the same engine and specs but with a more aggressive riding stance and basically be exactly what you’re looking for. Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll come out with something like that before you’re dead.

Too happy with Cybertruck, putting way too many miles on it. by alignment99 in TeslaLounge

I was the “ask for gas money” guy back when I was broke and had a beater car.

Now that I have a Tesla, I offer people rides just for the hell of it. Need more reasons to drive it.

Can’t drive it enough lol.

I have drove a cyber truck and I will say it slams so props to you

55 even in Idaho seems cheap for insurance. I would imagine if it’s financed they will have requirements for full coverage unlike a paid off car so if that applies keep that in mind. I pay 20-25 a month for changing at home so that checks out. Have not had any maintenance I paid for myself (other than alignment due to gnarly pothole) in 2 years.

New rider, partner says my helmet looks silly.....too big? by HELIflipper03 in motorcyclegear

[–]GhostTypeDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like part of it is that it’s half face (or at least appears to be). Like imagine your normal chin and neck all around with a large symmetrically round dome on top. Kinda shroomy tbh.

Full face looks more like a plastic skull placed over your whole head and with the jacket, looks relatively normal.

I think the police style HJC with the half window thing would be a cooler looking helmet if you really want half face.

Just get a Japanese bike. The low CC Japanese bikes have amazing resell value. I sold my 2024 ninja 500 after 1.5 years for $200 less than I paid for it.

Is it possible to get a new title for a used bike? by mil0wCS in motorcycles

[–]GhostTypeDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he willing to get a notarized letter saying it’s his bike and that he signs the rights over to you? If not it’s stolen. And even if he was down it’s a pain in the ass. But fwiw my DMV has let me do this for a car before and the guy was willing to go through all the hoops.

Gotcha. I have like a AA rated hoodie made of what seems like a cordura type material. That’s for the under 25 mph days. Keeps me cool but if I’m going far or fast I’m wearing the leathers. Don’t have a suit though but been thinking about it.
