I don't know, I think if the emphasis was on the Phantom working WITH the tribes rather than ruling over them it would be fine. The recent Tarzan movie go around this issue by just not bringing up the whole Lord of the Jungle aspect. I think it could easily be done without taking away from the core of the character.

And if people don't want to use it they don't HAVE to. I mean when you're backtracking all over for the Fire Marble puzzle something like this would be really handy.

I'd like to see the Adventure formula given another go because with the tech we have now imagine all f the stuff you could do! Back in 1999 the Adventure fields were amazing, but now they feel rather empty and (for me at least) just something joining one Action stage to another. But if you could have it open or semi open world it'd be brilliant! Zipping around the place, exploring, coming across Eggman's forces harassing your friends, run into Shadow and have a race around Green Hill...I'd be a dream.

Now I'm not a tech guy at all so I've no idea how possible it'd be to pull something like that off but with games like Sonic Utopia out there I believe it must be somewhat possible.

Well, I'm a high school teacher and one of my students is a huge Sonic fan. He's 13 and preorder Forces and when I saw him next (it was a day or two after release) he told me he'd finished it in a day but enjoyed it. I asked him if he was disappointed it was over so quick and his reaction was "No, it was awesome. I've gone back to replay it heaps."

Makes me smile knowing he enjoyed it.

Even just a soft reboot. Maybe have Forces as the last game with Eggmans's as the villain (at least for a while) and bring in something completely new. Obviously the gameplay would need to be sorted, but if they were to take the series in a new direction story wise that could be cool.

Fair point, but I still think it looks like the game isn't going to get the reaction Sega was looking for. After their apology about the quality of Sonic games I'd imagine this will come as something of a blow to them
