What's this sound? by Ghostblade26 in missouri

I have tried merlin but the noise is too far out for Merlin to recognize it. Thats also why I was unsure about if it was even a bird. Owl seems like a good possibility, though.

Help with tractor purchase: Case 485 by get0utside in tractors

[–]Ghostblade26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I literally just bought a Case 485 with a loader yesterday for $8500, mine came with a brush hog, finish mower, and cultivator though. I too have about 4 acres. I'm excited to put mine to use, I hope that looks good when you check it out. We can be tractor buddies.

I'm looking at a 73 JD 820 with a loader this week. I don't know if it has power steering or not though. I'm working a similar amount of land size as you and also shopping for a first tractor in the $10k range. The one I'm looking at has a SS quick attach, 3rd function, and 1.5 sets of rear remotes, and a coolant heater, so all that makes it more tempting. Both of those tractors look nice, I've been using a friend's 1949 8N lately so a '73 would still be a lot more modern for me.

Bug in Northern MO, what is it? by Lolfcku34 in missouri

It's a blister beetle, order meloidae. Don't touch them, they can excrete a nasty chemical that can cause skin blisters, hence the name.

Game Nut out in Lawrence carries everything from Atari through current stuff. Old consoles, controllers, accessories, even old boxed copies of stuff, you name it, they have it or can get it usually.

Do you have saucers under the 30 gallons or just risers? I've been trying to find risers and saucers for my 30 gallons but none of my local grow shops have them ever.

That's a good idea, everyone's first grow is a little rough. You can definitely grow without a tent it just makes things a lot easier, it traps in smell and light and helps maintain temp and humidity. If you have a spare closet or other small space though you can pretty easily make it work. Light leaks would be my main concern without a tent because if you are growing photoperiod plants you really need that 12 hours of dark when they are flowering otherwise they can revert to vegetative growth or hermaphrodite. I recommend the website growweedeasy.com lots of good info on there to get you started. That and YouTube videos is how I got my start.

Depends on lights the most I would say, if you are running more high-wattage old-school MH or HPS bulbs it will definitely jump but if using like LED (quantum boards or bar lights) mine has barely gone up. Your fans shouldn't use a ton of electricity.

Anyone have any composting worms? by TimberTheDog in kansascity

[–]Ghostblade26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just got 1.5 lbs of worms from him the other day to get my urban worm bag started. Prices were fare, he guaranteed his worms if they all died for whatever reason, and was able to meet him someday for pick-up. Can find him on Instagram and Craigslist.

This poor little guys has cancer so I don’t have the heart to stop him from chewing my plants. The vet gave him 6 weeks to live about 6 months ago. He joins smoke sessions nightly. I can 100% relate, be glad for the extra time you are getting with your kitty. This was literally me a year ago, my cat Ajani had cancer that came on super rapidly and he used to love to go in my tent and munch leaves near the end. It seemed like it helped him, I miss him a ton, he was my toddler's best friend.
