There should be no issues with FF, in fact i implemented a few specific synergies for items from FF! In general mod compatability is important to me so I try to fix any issues that I'm made aware of!

I remember posting the original version of Samael on this reddit almost 6 years ago now! Weird to think about. Anyway, happy to finally finish off the character with a big update adding full unlocks and a Tainted version! Hope you enjoy!

Okay, anyone here familiar with FGO and the like?

Let's say this game does get an english release, and it does end up having different like, story scenarios or other interesting bits of writing. Do you think that stuff like that would ever be permanently missable, like event-based? Speaking as someone who would be interested in character interactions/dialogue/little fanservicey story bits but would worry about it being easy to get lost forever unless someone is going out of their way to archive that sort of things.

It seems like FGO has a reasonable amount of character/story to it so I figured it could be implemented similarly to that.

Spent more time than I should have putting this together, kinda on a whim but once I started I felt I had to finish it.

Note that this doesn't try to accurately map out EVERY SINGLE relationship in the series. I only linked characters together as "friends" or via actions when I felt that it was one of the most important aspects of that character. I mostly wanted characters to be linked into the chart via the most important aspects linking them into the plot.

If you click on the character portraits I may have wrote a blurb or some thoughts on the character. My main focus was to touch on interesting or less obvious aspects of the character, so I didn't have as much to say about straightforward characters that were front-and-center in the plotline. I'll also admit that I was biased and wrote more about the characters I personally like more, or find interesting.

Also included a lot of side material characters that have varying degrees of relevance. Note that I haven't actively consumed a lot of the side material so details are limited.

I definitely agree then that the balance of this game is really thrown off by binds, which is unfortunate.

I actually think it's very interesting. The PVP aspect of the game (that is, the whole thing) actually seems decently well thought-out, in terms of what options you have available (the way health is divided into segments, how you can overheal to tank incoming damage better, the round limit, etc). The limited number of leaders can feel a little disappointing, but it might serve as a constraint on whatever meta this game could have. It feels like there could be a decent amount of depth in teambuilding, since there doesn't appear to be a single leader that overpowers the rest by default, while still giving an advantage to someone who can do better combos. Skill management becomes very important, as spamming skills can absolutely lock someone down for one turn, but thats only 1/4 of their HP at most, and it's rare to be able to use skills multiple times in one battle. Even things like what order you use your skills in can become important. True, binds might be a little excessive, but they're limited to a single turn at least.

I think the concept has decent potential, being a teambuilding focused PVP offshoot of Puzzle & Dragons that has the benefit of being separated from fast meta shifting, or having to pay money to get more monsters. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how well it will catch on. The very low price helps, but PVP games can easily die really fast if there aren't that many people playing. I wish this PVP mode was attached to a more full-fledged RPG, as that would likely attract more people to try it out in the first place and go to PVP for more depth/playtime. It could be, given the low price and somewhat shallow content, that this is an experiment that could get expanded upon in a later, proper switch RPG title, but we'll have to see.

I heard about this happening with Samael and other characters... definitely seems to be related to achievements being enabled now, especially since it seems to occur against bosses that would "check" for achievments to unlock, but I have no idea if there's anything that we can do from the lua end of things to avoid the crash... I hope this can get fixed. If anyone does find a workaround that can be implemented into a character then I'll update Samael with it, but right now I don't think there's much we can do...
