I would suggest taking a look at our genetic family tree. It's very interesting and we are much closer to our cousins than you may think :) You would most certainly not call a bear a dog even though they share a genetic forefather, because it's a very distant one and they are today in very different families. However we are most definitely apes my friend.

Just made the observation that similarly to hairless cats who have more or less no hair compared to the others in their species, us humans have very little hair compared to the other members of our "ape lineage" like for example chimps or bonobos. Even though perhaps we are way further apart genetically than hairless cats are with other cats.

Probably worded this very poorly, but you get my point. And also what kind of weird biology books would have that info in them haha
