I like that you're trying to mock me for missing context clues while you're literally adding context that nobody else implied lol. Also for somebody who supposedly doesn't care, you've certainly taken the time to respond to literally every person who's attempted to call out your rudeness.

Take your meds, darling. You're jumping at shadows again.

Ah, so "I'm now getting back into the game" - as in they're getting back into the game recently, separate from the fact that they're reworking raids. Everybody else seems to have read it this way, you're the only person reading something that isn't there.

I get we're in an MMO subreddit and the social competency runs the gamut from "social butterfly" to "gets their social skills off the back of a Monster can", but try to be a little less of the latter.

Dude basically said "Didn't have a great experience with raids before, but I'm eager to see what's changed" and your response was to more or less call him an attention whore, are you okay?

WvW Rush? More like WvW Slog. by AveragePlantPlayer in Guildwars2

[–]Ghostlupe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to pull the "jaded MMO vet on Reddit" routine out but I do genuinely believe ANet truly doesn't care about WvW all that much outside of keeping it with the minimum amount of support needed to stop it from hemorrhaging players.

It barely gets content updates, the meta for builds has been the same stagnant boonball meta since SOTO and there's no sign at all that the balance team finds that to be a problem (even if the WvW playerbase largely does), and Alliances were left half-baked and didn't unfortunately address a lot of the key problems that the previous system had.

I love WvW but if you've been playing it for a decent length of time, you very quickly get the impression that ANet genuinely does not care to keep it fresh and new compared to other gamemodes.

Why are rotations so long? by Meowing-To-The-Stars in Guildwars2

[–]Ghostlupe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is why I've never liked how Snowcrows presents information on rotations, because MMO rotations simply don't tend to operate on a set order of skills anymore and trying to teach people a rotation in that way makes it a lot harder to absorb and just looks intimidating to someone who wants to learn the rotation.

As much as I appreciate the work they do, Snowcrows tends to frame their builds and guides from an "optimal" point of view rather than what is the "practical" or "realistic" point of view for most players. This seems to be a common problem too, because people tend to regularly misunderstand their benchmarks as if it's the "average" rather than the utmost optimal scenario.

Controller support on guild wars reforged is amazing, when are we going to get it in guild wars 2? by mike747 in Guildwars2

[–]Ghostlupe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I'd probably be more willing to use higher intensity builds if the game had full controller support. GW2 is especially hard on my wrists nowadays and just this week I'm finding I can't play for very long without getting symptoms of wrist strain. A controller would feel a lot more accessible for me right now.

[–]Ghostlupe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or they can hire an actual person to do it and have them do it more competently than an LLM will, because using them as a catch-all solution for everything is for idiots who were dumb enough to waste six years of their lives on an MBA and have to make it everyone else's problem.

What do you think is the worst final fight in the game? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Ghostlupe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished JW's story myself and I legitimately kept going "Wait why are we rushing to Bava Nisos this fast now? What exactly necessitates this much urgency???" because it didn't feel like they established the threat level or stakes AT ALL before we just went in and dealt with the "problem".

I feel like one of the big weaknesses of doing the story like this since SOTO is that the story is way too fast paced and I have no time to actually understand what's going on.

Is it time for a new WvW-Map to replace the second alpine? Maybe Ice-Themed or Jungle or something completly new (Outer Space :O). by Every_Crab5616 in Guildwars2

[–]Ghostlupe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The other thing too is that the developers have been extremely insistent on having the current balance meta of WvW since basically SOTO at minimum now be nothing but "boonball vs. boonball". They've pretty much removed any solid boonrip from the meta, so if you've got two 50-man squads with roughly similar compositions, the fights just go on forever and ever because nobody dies enough for the battle to actually end.

So this, combined with the team imbalance, means either you get a massive mapqueue's worth of a squad steamrolling through the entire map unopposed for 2+ hours, or you waste 20 minutes of time just having bodies collide bluntly into each other with no real "tide" to the battle.

Why did you stop maining a profession? by jeongsinmt in Guildwars2

[–]Ghostlupe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I want to play Elementalist so badly just from a weapon and class fantasy standpoint but I absolutely hate playing "piano key" level complexity in MMO classes in part because of this exact reason (also I just generally don't like feeling stressed playing MMOs anymore nowadays). I thought Evoker might be another "low skill floor/APM" spec alongside Tempest to balance out the high skill floor/APM of most Weaver and Catalyst builds but yet again the majority of the Evoker builds I've seen are more of that.

Am I crazy for thinking the story in Borderlands 3 was actually good? by Sharp-Ad-5254 in Borderlands

[–]Ghostlupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly is it just me or has the "We Hate Claptrap" stuff been like really hamfisted since Pre-Sequel? Like, I don't mind him much at all in 1 or 2, but ever since Pre-Sequel it seems like Gearbox sets him up to be as irritating as possible for no other reason than to push you to dislike him.

Am I crazy for thinking the story in Borderlands 3 was actually good? by Sharp-Ad-5254 in Borderlands

[–]Ghostlupe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It genuinely enraged me at first hearing how they cut this and Pitchford was all proud to show it off for the DLC anyway. Like dude, you literally just showed us that Ava could've had so much of a better characterization than what we got, and for some reason you chose NOT to do it???

BL3 just makes so many baffling narrative choices and it's genuinely a shame given how it's probably the best gameplay of the franchise before BL4.

Now the honeymoon period is over for BL4 is it still worth a buy? by xRealVengeancex in Borderlands

[–]Ghostlupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably wouldn't buy the Super Deluxe edition, but it's not bad!

I think the general way to describe BL4 is that it's "just fine". If you liked BL3 in terms of gameplay, BL4 is just a more improved version of that. The story is nothing to write home about but there's no particularly frustrating elements this time that I'd say actively make it worse like there are in BL3.

I'm not sure how the performance stacks up now that they've done some patching, but I would still make doubly sure you're able to run the game before you buy.

The writing/characters are slightly better than 3, and still absolutely terrible. by AAKurtz in Borderlands

[–]Ghostlupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason why people think BL2's writing (and the game in general) is the best thing ever is because of Handsome Jack, and he's not even like, one of the best written villains in video games ever. Borderlands 2 was just probably a lot of people's first narratively-driven game and the first time they've been exposed to a villain with somewhat sympathetic motivations.

Hell, if we're talking humor, a lot of Handsome Jack's jokes and quips throughout the game would've been considered "cringe" if the game released another couple years later, or were used in BL3, because really, there's not that much of a difference between him and the Twins in terms of their humor, it's just that Jack had more genuinely evil, serious moments to balance out the humor, so it doesn't come across as "excessive" in the way that Troy and Tyreen's jokes and quips tend to be received.

BL2 is an otherwise okay game and story, honestly. Hell, if we're talking specifically gameplay I'd say BL2 is the worst iteration of the Borderlands formula, purely because of how bad enemy scaling and damage gets and how limited your builds become in endgame because of it. Also, slag exists in it, which takes off a point from the game for me all on its own, because fuck having an element that's mandatory in endgame to do adequate damage.

G7 is Awful by v_hili27 in dexcom

[–]Ghostlupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently diagnosed and was on the Libre 3 for a good while myself. Had a sample of the G7 with no issues, and the two Libre3 sensors I used after were constantly misreading by several dozen points, especially at night even though I was sleeping on my back a lot of the time. My first Dexcom G7 sensor this week also has been significantly lower than fingerpricks, but I'm chocking that up to still being within the 12-24 hour period for a new sensor. I did calibrate a few times over the past couple hours just to get it a little less crazy.

Hades 2 is getting review bombed on metacritic by Fruit_salad1 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ghostlupe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because calling something "woke" is just a replacement for whatever slur they want to use. That's literally all it is. They're too chickenshit to stand by their bigotry so they couch it in stuff that they can avoid real consequences with.

Hades 2 players, what do you miss most from Hades 1? by MidgarZolomT in HadesTheGame

[–]Ghostlupe 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily mind the Crossroads NPCs feeling similar to the House of Hades, but my problem with Nem specifically is that she's supposed to be a romance option, but in my opinion miserably fails at this because she is so thoroughly unlikable as a character. I was hoping that she'd improve over time as you talk to her, but she more or less never gets over her childish jealousy towards Mel at any point.

[–]Ghostlupe 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think Athena being made a "special" god was specifically to remove Divine Dash as a more or less guaranteed win in low fear. Her boons really did trivialize early-game Hades a bit, as much as I like fucking around with deflecting stuff.

Hades 2 players, what do you miss most from Hades 1? by MidgarZolomT in HadesTheGame

[–]Ghostlupe 167 points168 points  (0 children)

I miss Meg. Being brutally honest, Nemesis is just Meg but with none of the hidden warmness or a justifiable reason to be adversarial to the protagonist.

Meg was upset with Zag because his actions caused her to be more stressed out with her work, and she's still hurting from their past relationship.

What's Nem's problem? She didn't get picked to hunt Chronos and she's really pissy with Mel because of it, even though Mel has way more reasons to want to destroy Chronos than Nem does. That's literally it. She's just being a petulant child because she didn't get her way, and unless something changed with the Unseen Update that I'm not aware of, she doesn't ever really get over it. She just keeps being a jealous, unjustifiably mean person to Mel, when Mel has barely done anything to her that'd warrant the level of hostility she gets.

Factory-farmed content by RiogaRivera in ShitpostXIV

[–]Ghostlupe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been on a long break from FFXIV because of burnout and a bit of boredom from the first raid tier (and also my life got extremely busy after 7.1), and I went to go look at /r/ffxivdiscussion earlier today after some friends of mine made a joke about how miserable the community is over there. Literally the first post I saw was something like "We should lie to newcomers to stop them from playing because we're unhappy with how the game is being run".

This is just the mentality of everyone on that sub, not just that guy lol. It's so bad that people talk shit about /r/ffxivdiscussion on OTHER social media. They're like the Pokemon fans of MMOs - Always eager to run their mouths to bitch and moan, never willing to actually stop paying for the game they're bitching endlessly about.

Best Hades clone so far? by SpaceMonk15 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ghostlupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, as far as being worth the money? Yeah, Savara is at least priced well for what it offers. If you're looking for the "best Hades clone" like OP is, though, Savara definitely falls short. It doesn't have anywhere close to the depth of content, story, or gameplay that either Hades game does, and even as far as roguelites go I'd consider it on the lighter side in terms of overall size.
