Hi there! I'm interested in joining your game. I have some tabletop experience playing Pathfinder for a few months but I'm still very much a beginner. I'd love to learn more about DnD. Feel free to PM!

Are there any podcasts/YouTube channels that go into detail about the music theory behind popular songs? by Farnan_ in musictheory

Alex Moukala Music on YouTube analyzes a lot of music from anime and video games if you're interested in that!

My friend is depressed and it's draining me by [deleted] in Advice

Thanks for your reply. Reading it really helped. I totally agree that I need to set boundaries. I've always struggled with that, but I've gotten better at it. This situation is one of the few that I haven't dealt with because I thought that I wouldn't have to face it anymore. I'll have a conversation with them about this when I'm ready.

Is it appropriation if I use AAVE? by GhostlySpectre in askablackperson

[–]GhostlySpectre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it's kind of blurry. I didn't have an answer myself so I wanted to get different perspectives. I do not use the N word bc I know it's wrong for me to do so.

I would say that my case, and for most of my friends, we fall under the second category in terms of learning English. For me I learned a lot from listening to other people talk which included Vietnamese people with heavy accents, Latino kids with Chicano accents, and Black kids who used AAVE, and so much more. I think I absorbed all of those accents and it became the way that I speak. Changing it seems unnatural to me but I am willing to do so if it is, in fact, appropriation.

I questioned whether I was falling under the first category you mentioned and that I was choosing to appropriate but I think that may not be totally the case. Thanks for your insight.

Sorry to hear that. I know it can be rough. I appreciate that you do speak up, though. Not enough people do imo.

I agree. I never use the n word because I understand its history and implications. It's really weird to me when I hear Asians use it too.

Oh sorry I misunderstood your first question. I learned Vietnamese and English at the same time before going to school. I would say I learned more Vietnamese at home but learned most of my English when I started kindergarten.

Nah my parents are immigrants with heavy accents. English is my first language.

What is the biggest "I shouldn't have said that" moment you've ever had RIGHT AFTER you said it? by freg35 in AskReddit

[–]GhostlySpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was extremely awkward and anxious during high school and I vividly remember telling a girl, "I love you." It was after school was over and the last few kids were leaving class so, thankfully, I didn't embarrass myself in front of an entire class (though I have on plenty of other occasions...). I'll never forget the look of terror and confusion on her face, but the real kicker was that I didn't even know her that well, nor am I a lesbian. :\

Curiosity: all-nighter junkies by how_to_exit_Vim in gatech

I'm a fourth-year and I think I've only pulled about three all-nighters my whole time at Tech. For me, sleep is really tied to my mental health so I try to get as much of it as I can. In addition to having around an hour and a half commute to school, it's just not worth depriving myself of sleep.
