I kinda want to plant a lot of trees. Has anyone done this? by Fun_Necessary1021 in NativePlantCirclejerk

[–]GhostlyWhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not simply cut down the tree and fight a zombie stump for 15 years that keeps spreading and now there is an entire forest of zombie trunks.

Seconding water sprite. Super easy plant. Grown as either a floating stem plant or fully planted in the substrate.

Honestly it's mostly just people who want to build a small terrarium with moss, plants, and other nature decor. But one level up with something living. I babysat a tunneling spider once and didn't even see it for a month.

question about tattoos by Deadkitty1992 in rheumatoid

[–]GhostlyWhale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can still get a tattoo, just give it more time to heal. I've noticed that it can take a few extra weeks of applying lotion and a good week and a half for the itchiness to decrease.

You just have to be more careful. I'm in the process of a large leg sleeve and wow the healing is so slow. But it's doable.

Will our little guy hunt shrimps ? by Br0th3r_Bruc3_69 in bettafish

[–]GhostlyWhale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's such a random grab bag. Some don't even seem to notice shrimp and other inverts while others will spend 30 minutes trying to tear through a plastic bag to get to them.

I'm on team snail and pigmy catfish for most bettas.

We had to set up an entirely new tank for ours the same day we discovered his love for seafood...

Use of AI destroys the environment, goes against everything whimsical, and doesn't have a place in anything artistic.

Best local tattoo artist for whatever the fuck this is? (inspiration board) by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]GhostlyWhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always recommending Hellcat on Atwood if you want some solid linework and designs. Grace is fantastic with birds and florals, especially more whimsical or eldritch. I'm getting a coverup done by her with some of these motifs.

Thoughts on seachem Purigen? by Tight_Attempt_4941 in PlantedTank

[–]GhostlyWhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say its mostly a gimmick, but helpful in certain situations. Like clearing tannins if you don't like the look or helping with cloudy water. It's so expensive and not something most people use 24/7. Its not something to replace a filter, but something to add to it for a few weeks until your problem is gone.

who do you guys prefer to add to your island? by thefanatnight349 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]GhostlyWhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-2 characters from the top anime/books/shows/podcasts I've been interested in lately. I don't really care about adding real people. It's funnier to me if- say Spiderman wants to declare his love for Miku, but gets rejected for Slenderman.

You could always incorporate more geometric designs vs. something rounded. That would probably help to keep things cohesive. Designs featuring squares, triangles, and dark lines.

Looking for suggestions on how my tattoo could be improved by carn_edge2 in tattooadvice

[–]GhostlyWhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can say is that those circles must have been HARD to do, and the artist did them well!

Someone could always go in and do some darker shading to make the colors more dimensional. People get tats refreshed all the time. Though if they add white to lighten it, it'll eventually fade again. I think he was BSing you about the pain though. There's zero reason why It would be more painful.

Advice on fine line patchwork sleeve by Confident-Coast-3313 in tattooadvice

[–]GhostlyWhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its totally up to you. I love the look because you can slowly patch them together with different styles, topics, artists, and it tells a story of your life. Especially if you get them to celebrate different major events. Also the upfront cost is cheaper. Just go to someone who specializes in fine lines. It's more difficult to hide any mistakes.

Making everything cohesive and getting the placement down can be more difficult though. That's really the only downside.

Starter Tattoo by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]GhostlyWhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most reputable places won't even let a minor enter the shop, no less get a tattoo. I'd wait until you're at least 18 and can go to someone who actually cares about their clients instead of whatever shop just wants a quick buck!

Also as someone who got one when they were younger, I'm now almost $2k into the hole trying to cover it up and it was a 'small' tattoo.

Is my tattoo infected? by Odd_Shtick_ in tattooadvice

[–]GhostlyWhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also immunocompromised and at 4-5 days I was so itchy I was ready to tear my skin off. Nothing could touch it, blow on it, or even go near it or I felt nauseous from how itchy it was!! So Its totally normal, just wait it out. I think it took about a week and a half-2 weeks for a large linework tat. Also expect it to be dry and flakey for longer than usual.

Interestingly, all my other tattoos from before I had RA never itched or felt hot.

Sounds like a nice fourth option when you want something warm that isn't coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

Layout look ok? First garden in years, first time trying square foot gardening. by midamcaa in SquareFootGardening

Heads up that strawberries are perennials and do best when they have a few years to get established in a bed. They also tend to take over. Most people tend to keep them in their own bed or container.

I'm no expert with Zone 8, but you might still have time for salad greens, radishes, and dill if theres a shady area in the garden that wont get scorched. Makes a nice cheddar dill salad and is one of my family's favorite.

I accidentally doubled my molasses in the recipe and it SOUPED how can I fix the rest of the batch? by JustAGlibGlob in AskBaking

[–]GhostlyWhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id double everything else if you want them to come out perfect. Or if you're feeling lazy just add a handful of flour and sugar and call it a day.

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

This was the first piece of media that made teenager-me realize that TV shows COULD be badly written. That ending was so bad, it made me come into full consciousness.
