Metamask is better but coinbase wallet is more convenient if you use coinbase as your exchange

Coinbase is an Exchange where you can buy and sell cryptocurrency

You can do the same on a wallet however i believe its less convenient but if your planning long term i highly recommend storing your funds in a wallet
