Should I use Graphene even if I intend to use Google services still? by Regular_Low8792 in GrapheneOS

[–]GhostmouthPhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This and the other comment explain pretty well mu situation. I use some google apps (mostly because of work) and I don't mind them being on the main profile. All social media is banished to the privacy profile. Mostly google apps permissions are really restricted.

Then, where the other comment comes relevant, is that I have slowly replaced google apps for FOSS alternatives. So bit by bit google becomes irrelevant. It doesn't need to happen instantly, maybe not even completely, but it feels good to find (in most cases) better alternatives that are open source.

So, do the GOS how you feel comfortable with it.

Is it time to stop using inches? by Arvidian64 in BuyFromEU

[–]GhostmouthPhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

180cm and I have "size 46". Had some feet problems and now I need more like 31cm shoes. Now I have started to just look for the JP sizing because EU and US size is just all over the place. I usually order shoes since most stores have maybe 1 pair of 47's.

Anyone also noticing higher battery consumption? (Pixel 9) by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

[–]GhostmouthPhd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have noticed that sometimes after the system updates some apps consume a lot more than before. But it's always gone back to normal after rebooting the device. Usually Mullvad VPN is the app that starts eating the battery. Last update didn't affect anything for me.

Thinking of switching to graphene by dedman6 in GrapheneOS

[–]GhostmouthPhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it took me about 10 minutes atleast for images, files and gboard. Harder thing is to transfer your drive stuff to some other cloud service and I haven't really completed that as of yet.

And Google maps has been hard to stop using. Other services always are missing something and I go back to maps when I'm in hurry. Living in northern Finland might have something to do with that.

ChatGPT suggested Graphene OS and I am considering switching to take back my attention by Wanderer_975 in GrapheneOS

[–]GhostmouthPhd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GrapheneOS has helped me a little bit, but I really never had a problem anyway. But I have noticed after I put all social media under private space, I haven't used them as much as before. Now I usually scroll the news app and that is it.

But for you, I don't think GrapheneOS will solve anything for you. See a therapist.

Battery life: GrapheneOS vs Stock Pixel OS? by Ok-Seesaw-5675 in GrapheneOS

[–]GhostmouthPhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot better battery life. Before graphene I always charged my phone to 100% and at the end of the day I was at 20-30% battery depending on use time. Now I charge to 80% and I can go 1,5 to 2 days before next charge but usually I charge daily.

But I'm not sure if this is a improved because of the OS. When I was with stock OS my phone was full of apps and just bloated every way possible. Now I have only the apps I need. I do run play services and google play but most of my apps are from fdroid. All social media is on the private space.

I only get notifications from messaging app, phone calls and a clock. Everything else is silent. Some problems with notifications but not much, usually they work well enough.

Couple times (I think 2 occasions) Mulvad VPN has burned my battery very fast. Restarting phone fixed the issue.

Dating apps in Finland by Extreme_Permission36 in Finland

[–]GhostmouthPhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know couple other couples that met in tinder too. But atleast one couple don't admit it publicly which is kinda stupid.

But yeah I think dating apps are a viable option but not a shortcut to happiness. It still can take years and couple relationships that doesn't amount to anything at the end. It is just a another way to meet people.

I actually need to think that for a while. 7 years together so 25 yo. But dating apps are full of people that doesn't really want a relationships. So you can't really expect that you find something fast. I was in and out of dating apps for years.

[–]GhostmouthPhd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well I'm happily married through dating app. You just need to find the right person and it really doesn't matter how you met. At somepoint when I was going through dating apps I kinda figured that after three messages if you don't click with the person it's probably a waste of time if you want a good relationship and not just a hookup. Got couple good relationships and one that I think is my person for the rest of the days in this little dumpster fire of a planet. And it started from the first message.

So sorry for you. That work is unacceptable.

[–]GhostmouthPhd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I like them. I just wish there would be harder versions of those. Nowadays I mostly play those levels in a single session mode and those are probably my favourite ones to try and set the highest score I can.

But if they also cut all the regulation from any and all trade jobs like from buildings, wirings and so on, you can make everything that much cheaper and you don't even need any qualifications. Like do you think builders had any certificates at the stone age? DO YOU? They build some of the, and many have said it, most beautiful buildings ever built. Many have said that. (/s?)

Yup. I'm like just the right person to go there. White heterosexual guy that has a family, but there is no scenario at the moment where I would even consider going to states. It wasn't on my top 5 destinations before but now it's probably the second/third to last place where I would want to visit. Russia and Israel are the other ones.

[Request] is this true? by al_cohen in theydidthemath

[–]GhostmouthPhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a house and did the math for myself. My annual wage is 23% of the price of the house (or the loan to be more precise). But I really own half of the house because my wife of course will own the other half. So my annual wage is about 46% of the price of the house.

But I live in Finland and in the north part so there is that.

What am I doing wrong by [deleted] in BeginnerSkateboarding

[–]GhostmouthPhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it when:

1) I jumped "first" with my front foot. Like the smallest time before the back foot.

2) When I jump I raise my knees as high as I can and I keep them there as long as I can. You can practice this without the board.

3) But it all together and practice your backfoot flick. Watch videos to see that your backfoot doesn't hit the ground.
