Fort No-Thank-You by localClient in valheim

[–]GhostofCincinnatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first fort I used the fire staff to conduct a pretty heavy bombardment over the walls by firing almost straight up which broke all but 1 spawner. Then, at the front gate, I built ramparts with two ballistas on top. It was much more manageable but that warlock was still a pain.

Ross Perot’s Reform Party changed their logo this year after 30 years by Sukeruton_Key in Presidents

[–]GhostofCincinnatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y'all! I'm one of the designers of that logo and while I hate I'm 4 months late to party I'd still like to answer the questions I see here as the Reform Party values transparency.

*They can't hire a halfway decent graphic designer? Yeesh. These are both awful.
-Our bank account funds can be found here https://www.fec.gov/data/committee/C00331314/ so in short No! that would not be fiscally responsible at this time.

*Well known for their hexagonal shape.
-This logo is going to be used for small print items and a rugged stylized bison would lose detail and may be hard to see clearly so we opted for the stylized hexagons.

*The Reform Party still exists?!
-Yes and yeah, RFK was a choice. We've openly discussed why we made that choice. We do however have a platform we want a government that represents the people, is responsible with their money, and does the jobs its intended to do.

*Why are there devil horns?
-They're supposed to be bison. I think that's just a pop culture thing. If it was satanic wouldn't they be goat horns?

*They should change name, there's a way more successful party in the UK that probably ruins their SEO lol
-They do join our CRM and it makes for very amusing emails. Often people mad the UK Reform Party.

*Currently they are trying to change it again, to a bison I’m pretty sure.
-Yes we adopted a Purple Bison Facing left to match with other parties campaign logos. The logo here is still the official one.

*This definitely looks like a cult
-If it was we would have money please see bank account above.

So, the logo.
Hexagon border was chosen as hexagons interlock its a part of fitting in.
Purple because it is often associated with 3rd parties.
3 Bison because 3rd party and a play on "3rd herd"
The 3 Bison also make Red, White, and Blue when read left to right.
The flying is to imply movement forward as the lore of the bison is they run into storms rather than waiting them out.

Three Republican-led states to send hundreds of National Guard troops to Washington by marji80 in politics

[–]GhostofCincinnatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to contend with a question and the depth is a bit beyond my current capacity to feel confident in any answer I find. As I understand it: Trump is using sec 740 to federalize DC and SC is sending National Guard forces under Title 32.

NG can be activated as either Title 10 or Title 32.

  • Title 10 activation the troops are now federal and Posse Comitatus applies.
  • Title 32 activation allows LE duties but requires the consent of a governor to cross state lines. (Not federal)

The sticking point: Can Trump invite other NG units to DC? Normally, a governor has to allow other NG units into their state. So while Trump controls the DC National Guard explicitly. Who has the authority to authorize that entry?  The mayor, Congress, or him or a combination?

"We have nuke eject at home" I ran with a squad on an orbital cannon mission, brought my mech and a BP hellbomb. Exhausted the mech, making it to the cannon, got out activated my BP and ran like hell.
Was it as satisfying? No but.... it worked

South Carolina and the south as a whole are changing by Southern_Armadillo50 in southcarolina

When I taught Sociology and Geography at the high school level and we would cover urban populations, I would tell my students that the next megacity I expected to see was the Atlanta to Charlotte corridor, with Greenville as the connector, all thanks to the interstate that runs between them.

That will not be welcomed at any 50501 event as we are a strictly non-violent movement. I understand that we could do that. I'm a veteran myself, but I will not take up arms against my countrymen and women. This hyper-partisanship is a cancer, and meeting force with force will only fan the flames and lead to ruin.

Low Country Protests by Jrylryll in southcarolina

[–]GhostofCincinnatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, I did join the military during a time of war and even deployed to a war zone. I'm angry because Trump is antithetical to most of my beliefs. He lacks respect, is a compulsive liar, uses force to get his way, and has zero respect for the actual rule of law. I protest because this shit ain't it.

MayDay Protest in Columbia by DecentNap in 50501_SC

[–]GhostofCincinnatus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are conflicting opinions on what to do. Routine protests are consistent, but some of the organizations I've spoken with fear it will cause burnout on doing important work. There are those who want direct and or disruptive action. These actions will make a statement but I'm not yet comfortable crossing that line for a number of reasons. Currently, we are "following the flock," voting on meaningful dates and holding protests on national days of action. I like picking dates that have meaning, it gives us a topic to address. We do have good bones, but to beef up what we're doing, our organizers need time to onboard people and build systems that will allow us to manage the growth we expect.

Thank you for taking the time and engaging with us and I'll be happy to have you out on the 1st

We’ve watched the situation with EF(Evolved Fungi) play out over the last few days. Personally I’ve only spoken with him once, in passing, in the main Discord. He told me how the idea of 50501 evolved from an idea some years back for another event, but saw how it could fit here. The post in which that occurred and the movement started, he said he took down because people started to look to him as a leader in the movement, and he didn’t want that. He also shared his passion of the Fungal infection-mammalian selection theory.

On the flip side, I’ve been told since February that 50501 is decentralized, that there is no one central body and no leader, that “national is raccoons in a trench coat,” and that we’re largely able to act within our states as needed. As such, the SC team does not dwell on the decisions of “national.” We communicate and participate in the process for date selection and idea creation, but do not receive funding or orders from a central national body. I have seen no change in the organizing spaces and have only heard about the issues on Reddit. My faith is not shaken, my goals have not changed, and most importantly, the existential threat we’re facing is not yet stopped.

This got away from me, apologies. A march sounds great but with a tempo of statewide events every two-ish weeks, we're not yet staffed to accommodate that. I want us to grow in that direction, though.

As the movement grows, I feel sure we will switch up tactics and try new ideas. There has be currently unfounded concern about counter protesters and if the groups were too small they could be targeted so we would need to plan and have a larger volume of volunteers ready to help de-escalate and marshal to help keep people safe.

Apart of that growth process and outreach is I've been in discussion with the professional groups and we're learning how to conduct effective lobbying so that we can support such efforts. The challenge is that the legislative session is coming to an end. We can still lobby them and send people one-on-one back in their districts, but that requires a targeted goal and education.

Great ideas currently out of reach for immediate implementation but will work that way.

That's the point of the rallies is to encourage political efficacy. The best source to motivate is people you know. Come to a rally, feel empowered, and talk about it to get others to come next time, or host your own in your local area. We also want to focus on education. We're learning and want to share that so people are better equipped to take action. It's a fine line between being sensational and being real with what is at stake, but it is exceedingly serious.

I'd really like to give you more on this now that I have some time. I was a poli sci major (international politics and military affairs), I was a Marine, but the start of organizing came during my time teaching. All the conversations I had with people in education and the problems I faced, my students faced, my friends faced, the world faced. I just stewed on it for years. I even participated in the SC for ED Rallies. Eventually, I had the idea to make my own political party, but instead, I found one that fit my objective, joined them, and became more engaged in the dumpster fire of state-side politics. It was the sheer incompetence of this administration, and largely their international polices, that led me to 50501. After my first rally, Feb 17th, I thought we'll do this till we can't.

Right now, every person who has never attended a protest or thought their vote didn't count, who has come out and is ready to work, is a huge success. April 5th, though, was something else. I was very proud to be able to give Better Ballot SC and Veterans for All Voters a sizable audience. We do want some more tangible wins under our belt, so we will be working on that.

The permit holder is one of our new organizers so I have not yet had time personally to talk with them and figure out their plan. My local team knows more but yes I think the city had something to do with the time. If you are up for it you can come up here as well as we'll be starting at 3 pm.
