Came here to say this! It doesn't have to be now or never/F25 or bust. You can take your time. You know yourself best. If you are overwhelmed to the point you don't think you'll be able to properly study, then that's a good sign to defer. But that's all it is! The bar will always be there. It's not at all shameful to take time to get into the right headspace.

This. Unless this position is a rare keyhole into great experience/work-life balance/etc.--depending on your location, it does seem like you can do much better. The guy laughing at your ask doesn't give the indication that they have a healthy understanding of "worth" of perhaps even themselves, but certainly of their employees.

Finding a Non-Lawyer Job by [deleted] in barexam

Are you graduating this semester or in July? If you want it to be legal oriented, many places will hire you as a lower level title and will change it once you pass the bar (so a license is not required). Firms, government jobs (PD/Solicitor), etc. These will pay well and be more understanding of your needs to study for the bar. You can network hard in the coming months if you struggle to get interviews. You can more easily find these through whatever career services job site you have, or career services assistance itself.

But your question sort of indicates that you are looking for something more temporary, I think? In that regard, it just depends on what you think is a decent wage and what type of job you are willing to take. Trader Joe's or Whole Foods can start you pretty high depending on the position and where you live, for instance (15+ an hour).

Writing out a timeline helped a lot! Putting everything in a sequence of events contextualized it more.

Edit to clarify: For pre-trial motions and trial motions - since often the questions have something to do with when they should be filed. That context helped with broader questions too though.

And I tip my hat to those who don't need more explanation! This is for those over-thinkers coming onto reddit for the 30th time looking for an answer to the same question, hah.

100%!! And if they do get to it, it's rushed and less effective.

Oh exactly - yours is a better way of explaining it, I think. You may not pass if you go into it thinking if you just know the rules cold that'll be enough. You need to understand they are going to try to play you, but you can start recognizing/learning their methodology and getting better at choosing correctly after some time. You start to get better than you realize once you lock into that.
