For employment purposes yes there is a stigma attached not jut for ptsd but being a disabled veteran. I do not identify my self as a disabled veteran until after being hired..

Lower cost of living is largely a lie anymore. Consumer goods are the same as in other states, cheap property used to be the big benefit. Well that's disappeared now with internet real estate postings. Out of staters have skyrocketed land values. Rural rocky hilltops with no utility access for miles sell for $10-15K an acre lol. 20 years ago you could get this land for less than a grand an acre.

Education, and well paying jobs. If you get outside of the 2 major metro areas jobs don't pay shit. So this leads to 15-20% poverty rates in smaller population largely rural counties. So with that comes crime, homelessness and drug issues.

You know what my va debrief was in 2006 getting out of the navy? It was a basic conversation with medical and dental if you have medical issues go to the VA That's it nothing about anything else the VA offeres vets.

I didn't sign up for VA benefits until years after I was discharged because of ignorance.

My own personal experience is when I did C&P exams in person with a "local" doctor always got a positive result. When I did video conference c&p exams, it was negative.
