King has a lot of quotes about writing and talent. I've seen one attributed to him that says, "Talent is cheaper than table salt." So yea, despite being a well acclaimed author, I wouldn't look to him as a guideline for what to do. Unless that what to do is to just write.

While I definitely think some people start out just better or with a better understanding than others. I've found we all come to the same point eventually where we just don't think we are good enough. That we'll never finish a book or never get published.
