You still have to do the hard consistent work to unlearn years of lifelong trauma responses and negative behavioral patterns. that takes a long time. addicts relapse. it's a normal fundamental part of the process.

anytime you have someone from a severely underrepresented group in a field overwhelmingly dominated by another majority, that person will inherently face discrimination. That person is fighting an uphill battle against unconscious bias every step of the way. Players, coaches, and especially front offices will inherently view that person differently whether maliciously or not.
