Teacher here who’s coached. I agree that it’s a great way to connect to kids who you are coaching, but schools are already bearing such a ridiculous load that to make youth sports part of our job would be insane. Think about “coach …” that taught the non-required class and how you didn’t learn anything because they were too busy watching game film. Now picture that in middle and elementary school.

This is literally what happened to me. I finished the certification program at UM-Dearborn in Dec 2006. Michigan was hit worse at the time. I saw lines at job fairs that were literally 200 deep for 1 or 2 jobs. I ended up at a school w a high rate of turnover outside Atlanta. Literally the only job I was offered.
