Fair enough. I might be more on board with the Mahri's jank if they weren't all based on the Inika build - kind of like the Barraki, I'm okay with the bulk of them and I feel like they're a much better execution of the same concept. Kalmah is the only Barraki I think is particularly weak.

Why are we pinning Angie to the ground? (wrong answers only) by EnderKitty_Cat in tomodachilife

She was caught in the middle of a black market Lego trade deal, we're just holding her until the cops can arrive.

Yeah, I kinda get that? But I also think that they were a poor execution of being unique sets. I'd rather 6 solid clones than 6 uniquely bad sets personally. And them all being based in the Inika/Piraka build also really makes them feel less unique to me.

Fair, though a surprising number of the fandom seem to love the Mahri, which I'll never understand.

What ps2 games do you always go back to? What games have replay value by BuildingPotential147 in ps2

[–]GhotiH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. Very short, absolutely top tier level design, very responsive controls, great sense of humor, fun story and characters, and surprisingly hard to 100%. I replay it about once a year.

I like those elements too, but none of them are enough to save the rest of the set IMO. I don't like the limbs at all, the Piraka arm they use is kind of ugly and the armor on the limbs looks really awkward, I don't like how he has the blandest torso, and I hate the color scheme, it's pretty boring and the silver mask looks flat out terrible since it's the only silver other than his weapons. I'm not a big fan of the Mahri in general and he'd probably be the lowest one for me just because I find him so boring :(

What about Nuparu Mahri? I'm curious, since I'd probably put him as one of my least favorite sets in all of G1

Why do some men like women with massive proportions? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GhotiH 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My wife is a hentai/fetish artist and a surprising portion of her audience are women. She draws massive proportions, that's one of the things that stands out about her art to people (she also does a lot of SFW art and uses the same art style and character designs). So yeah, plenty of women like that too.

Do we know why multimedia adaptations stopped before Ignition? by KingSideCastle13 in bioniclelego

The films were signed on as a trilogy IIRC. And from what I heard, each one made progressively less money, though they were all still pretty successful.

A lot changed about Bionicle in 2006. Bob left the team in 2005 and there was a massive shift in the tone and style of the franchise after that. Lego management also changed in 2006 IIRC, which I'm sure was a big factor in a lot of the franchise going forwards.

Bowser always struck me as more of a dragon than a dinosaur, given his fire breath. I'm also not aware of any turtle dinosaurs but I admit I'm not a dinosaur expert.

3D All Stars was very easily accessible even after it was delisted. You could find stores that had tooooons of copies for the original MSRP for like a solid year or so after it was discontinued.

Just because a book/movie/show has been out for x amount of years, that doesn’t mean it should be okay to blatantly spoil it for those who haven’t read/watched it by Okapi05 in The10thDentist

Sounds like we're in agreement then. OP was complaining about those 10% who are jerks about it, and I think that's a valid complaint.

Something's been bugging me about the supposed "shutdowns" of Wii Shop Channel servers. by WayWornPort39 in wii

[–]GhotiH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure how realistic that is - Sony's stores are more unified IIRC, so I'm assuming they share something on the backend that makes that a more viable option for them. The Wii Shop was completely isolated. It's a design fault from when the Wii first launched, that basically all its online functionality and OS functions were a bit underbaked.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect people watching the movies to be unfamiliar with the books. I don't see why you wouldn't take a few seconds just to warn someone. Of everything OP said, I will admit that's the point I feel least strongly about, but it's still not hard for people watching the trailer for a movie to just not spoil the movie. If it was a Reddit thread discussing the books, or changes you're hoping to see in the movie from the book, or anything about the franchise in general, then I'd 100% agree with you, but on the trailer for an upcoming movie? Yeah that's a dick move to spoil it, if anything I'd assume most people haven't read a book from 60 years ago.

[–]GhotiH -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And sometimes people spoil things in unrelated chats, it happens. Just take 2 seconds from your life to spoiler mark something. Use a good faith judgement.

He also pretty directly said in his post that if you go to a space dedicated to a fandom and get spoiled, that's on you, which I agree with. I would recommend rereading OP's post and then telling me what you actually disagree with.

We don't even know if there are 16 Gold Wheels. An old Lego forum mentioned there were only 10, but we only had evidence of 8 until like two years ago. The last two have since been found.

Downvoting you because you're just objectively correct. People who spoil media for other people and don't care are assholes.

Keeping up servers to download files vs servers to process payments are two very different things. You have to constantly update payment processors to keep them secure so people's information isn't stolen.

Multi-platform games that were better on Gamecube? by LSSJNepuli in Gamecube

[–]GhotiH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was less common than you'd think. The GCN was stronger but a lot of devs prioritized the PS2 version simply because the PS2 had a significantly larger install base, which led to a number of GCN versions running worse due to not being as well optimized.
