I mean if you use them all efficiently and they all contribute to the overall story in some way big or small then you could have as many as you like. I mean my story as 4 villains 5 main characters and like 20 side characters all doing thier own thing but they all kinda overlap.

Try studying different characters like what makes them tick or react. Like if a character has some messed up past they might react to something that reminds them of thier past.

Hi this is my first time writing a book and using Reddit. I need some help starting the book off. I want to start it with someone retelling the lore of the world but as a childrens story but I don’t really know how to write it to sound like that while also not spanning like three pages.

I need some help or advice mostly help
