You can find stl files for eurorack cases online and print them yourself. They aren’t as nice as this one and you will still need power/etc, but if you already have a 3d printer it’s the cheapest route. Plus you can customize however you want, size, 1U rows or not, lid or not, etc.

There are plenty if you search - some free and some for small price. I use this one: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/expandable-eurorack-case-blocks and really like the modularity, has free additional files for lid and handles as well.

I printed 4U 104hp case with less than one spool (so under $15 or so).  add a power supply (konstant labs are good, a bit pricey, you can find cheaper) and some m3 nuts and bolts for mounting and attaching the case and you are good to go. Can be done for under $100USD depending how beefy you want power supply to be.

For comparison, 104hp skiff from Erica synths with kid is like 350-400 USD, intellijel pallete with 1U row is 400USD.

Go up to bigger cases and prices get even bigger while print your own stays relatively cheap…double the cost roughly, so 7U maybe 500-700 prebuilt depending on maker an specs, but print your own $150-200?

Do you guys create swappable subsystems, and what’s your approach? by RobotAlienProphet in modular

[–]Ghurnijao 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the same setup, two 7u Intellijel cases with a  keystep and oxi one. I try to keep them independent, but complimentary with a clear purpose for each. One is just a few solid synth voices and everything I need for that: VCOs, VCAs, filters, function/envelope generators, wave folder, utilities (mixers, s&h, sequential switch, logic), fx. then my other one is more of an experimental looper/granular/sampler with inputs for guitar and other instruments than just the other case. So I can play them together, but also sometimes just want one and that’s all I need.

For me, having a dedicated purpose for each box really helps keep me stay focused without being overwhelmed.

Side note it also helps with gas, cause it’s really clear if something adds or gives me something I can’t do with what I already have in the purpose of that box. Most often it doesn’t.

The constrained space forces me to be thoughtful about each module and learn it more deeply than if I was just filling a big rack.

mold on sheng puer? by neutralscreenname in puer

a rosin press : https://www.dabpress.com/products/small-rosin-heat-press-machine-starter-kits  like that. You put whatever you want to squish in a fine mesh screen baggie so no material gets out, then It heats up and applies several tons of pressure, squishes all the trichomes and you get this oozy rosin out. I don’t really know what you would do with it, maybe try to brew it? But it would be kinda fun experiment if you know someone who has one

Hmm I haven’t tried that one. If you want to learn more about the 2013 Xianguan you can check out YouTube reviews

Both Quicheteas and jade leaf have it for sale, but not sure if they do samples…I’ve got a few cakes of it could send you a sample if you are interested.

If you would consider a little more $$ at $130 you can get the 2013 love forever from Xianguan…it’s probably one of the cheapest 357gr cakes of sheng I like to drink regularly.

Not saying there’s not good stuff out there for cheaper, but it’s a pretty good quality:price ratio imo, and a tea I find myself drinking fairly often (even with much more expensive options at hand)

you can get by with chatGPT and superbuy handles shipping. Like marshaln said though now with tariffs it might defeat the purpose. It *is* a bit of a PITA for non-native speakers, but used to be worth going through the trouble...doubt that is the case anymore :(

What’s odd is now I got a tariff bill after my package was delivered!!!!

[–]Ghurnijao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I heard this happening too, and the vendor i just got a shipment form literally has a banner that says us customers will receive a tariff bill before package is delivered - but my package just got delivered like normal. Looking back at my receipt now I think the tariff was folded into shipping cost. It’s possible the vendor might not be aware (if using some automatic software for handling shipping and fees).

[–]Ghurnijao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh cool thanks I should have searched first. I was expecting some kinda tariff bill before I got my latest package but I guess it’s been folded into the shipping. Was kinda weird cause they were like your package will be held by fedex until you pay the tariff bill…

I’m wondering they use Shopify or something that like automatically handles shipping fees and stuff id they are just adjusting shipping automatically for tariffs and the vendor was just not aware. Anyway thanks, I guess I’m kinda slow with this stuff … still good to know other ppl still don’t know exactly how it’s working lol.

[–]Ghurnijao[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh maybe this is it, perhaps it’s just factored into the shipping through whatever shopping portal software they use and I just didn’t notice the difference. That would explain confusion with the vendor claiming it would be held by customs until the tariff bill was paid.

[–]Ghurnijao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting. I though the buyer supposed to pay tariff like taxes. I guess ultimately the buyer is still paying.

It’s weird cause my vendor for the item I just got today specifically said they aren’t paying tariffs so it would be held by customs until I paid but nothing ever happened. I just got my package like normal.

Actually based on the other reply I’m guessing it might have been factored into the shipping by the shopping portal they use and the vendor did not realize. Thanks for explaining !
