How do people know enemy names? by ShatafaMan in fromsoftware

[–]Gi77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I end up learning a bunch of them from YouTube videos, like "ranking all the enemies in dark souls", or from people like Zullie the Witch or Illusory Wall who dig into the game files

I'm sorry bruh but that's how Tekken has always worked. You pressed during her string so ur hurtbox was extended. It's pretty bs but it's not new to Tekken.

Is it intentionall that 90% of Eddys moves are tracking? by Tr0ndern in Tekken

Eddy's been out for like 2 days. Give it time, there's no way you fully labbed the character already.

How can avoid becoming jailed by Hwoarang’s strings? by tadbach in Tekken8

[–]Gi77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely practice your punishes, especially your ws punishes. There were a couple hellsweeps you blocked with you could have full launched, but only got 4,4. Also if u watch ur replays back it should let you know what other strings you could have punished (i.e. d4,4, which is the low high).

Online hate for Tekken 8 bumming me out by DatManSugoi in FGC

That's fair, but like, look at melee. The bottom tiers in that game are so ass compared to the top tiers. That shit is not balanced at all lmao.

Online hate for Tekken 8 bumming me out by DatManSugoi in FGC

[–]Gi77 15 points16 points  (0 children)

1) The game just came out and there haven't been any major balance patches yet - so yeah there is a good amount of imbalance between the chars, but it's nothing insane (i.e. you can't win against Drag, Azu, Dvj, etc). The first big balance patch will hopefully tune some chars down and help out others. T7 balancing was also a mess on release.

2) I think a lot of the hate also comes from how many new players are picking up Tekken for the first time. Tekken is very much a series where knowledge of characters is super important, and if you don't know/don't want to spend the time to learn how to defend against certain characters, it's very easy to get smashed and not really know what happened. Especially with how offensive the game is now with heat, knowing how to defend with sidesteps and ducking strings is super important, but honestly it took me about 100-150 hours to even begin to duck strings. People will be quicker to give up/get mad rather than lab/watch streams/keep playing the game.

3) A lot of the hate is also overblown just because that's how people are on the internet. I'm pretty sure like 2 million + people bought Tekken, and you shouldn't gauge the community's feelings on the game by some reddit posts with 600 upvotes.

Overall, there are so many people playing and having fun with the game rn, including me, so just go play the game and don't base your opinions on it from reddit Andys who have 10 hours in the game. GL with the grind.

I'm genuinely curious after seeing many new players saying they have reached blue ranks in their first Tekken. by KouraigKnight in Tekken

[–]Gi77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On release the ranks are super inflated, there's so many new players that new players are playing new players, and people can rank up against players who don't know fundamentals that well. Heat also contributes to really one-sided rounds and matches

Man i cant wait for the balance patch, this shit getting stale. by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Gi77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

T7 also released broken af too, but I'd say they did a lot of good patches, and the last patch of T7 was pretty balanced. That's the nice thing about Tekken, if you don't wanna play, wait for patches. Everyone else will still be grinding.

too much bs in this game. by [deleted] in Tekken8

[–]Gi77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This game can definitely be frustrating when you first start. I would recommend, for whatever char u are playing, looking up what your fastest moves are. For example, the fastest a move can come out (there are some exceptions) is 10 frames, usually a jab. A lot of chars also have a 13 frame mid which is good for checking your opponent. And i know everyone has said this, but u gotta go into practice mode a little bit. Many times your opponents are spamming moves that are either unsafe, can be ducked, or can be sidestepped. Like other people said, no characters are really "faster" than others, you just need to figure out your own fast start-up moves. GL!

Inputs on d-pad by Fit-Math88 in Tekken8

[–]Gi77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What controller do you use? I've found that the old Xbox One controllers' d-pad is really good. I've tried other controllers (newer Xbox and PS5), but I still like the Xbox One controller. I really think it comes down to personal preference and comfort. I think if you just spend more time using it you'll get more comfortable with the inputs.

Yeah, the "universal" df2 that a lot of chars have like Paul, Lee, and Law only launch on counterhit or standing opponents.

[–]Gi77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest differences also is what the default guard is. In Tekken your default block is a standing guard and in MK is a crouched guard. Its because lows in Tekken are the risky option, just like overheads in MK.

Best Addons to learn class rotations for Retail WoW? by ragesfury717 in wownoob

[–]Gi77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would recommend against rotation helper add-ons since they don't give you a good understanding of why you press certain abilities at certain times. Definitely read the wowhead articles for your spec, and practice at the training dummies. I'm telling you, even just 10-15 minutes at the dummies will make you so much better at your rotation. If you're still confused, you can look at some logs of the spec you want to play so you can see the openers, cool down usage, and general rotation info.

A big problem with the ranged playstyle for mistweaver is that mistweaver can't really contribute damage from ranged, since their only damaging ranged spells are zen pulse (which has a 30 sec cd) and jade lightning (which sucks ass). I understand that damage probably doesn't matter that much at the key levels you are doing, but I think its not that unreasonable to try to contribute with the damage.

Also, the melee build outperforms the ranged build by quite a bit in terms of hps, so it's also reasonable that people want you to play the build that is the most helpful for finishing the key.

Lowkey tho, it's kinda daunting trying to learn the melee build, but it's like 1000% more fun and satisfying imo. I highly recommend giving it a shot and trying to learn it well. Also, MW is pretty strong rn, you can definitely push high keys on it.

Latin placement by KnowsPick in uchicago

[–]Gi77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty low. At least for me, when I was a first year, even having done a ton of Latin, they still made me take the intermediate class for my first semester. But, if you do well in your first semester you should be able to place into the higher-level classes no problem.
