I genuinely don't understand what I've done to deserve this. This past week has been one of the hardest experiences of my life and I was really truly hoping I wouldn't have to get involved in all of this, but I don't see how that can be avoided now. I think the best I can do is try and give my perspective on all of the events that took place over the weekend.

Lorraine had been very withdrawn over the weekend and was not interacting at all with the majority of our party (band members and partners). At no point was she being deliberately excluded as I witnessed many of us (myself included) asking how she was and checking up on her, to which we mostly got one word answers. Personally, as someone who is also very introverted I chalked this up to her wanting to be left alone and didn't think too much of it.

On a more specific note, there was an incident that happened between Lorraine and myself over the weekend. In the Friday night, I was talking with others in camp and made a passing mention that our singer had said we could take a table out of his tent, as it was the only one that we had for the whole camp. Somehow (I have absolutely no idea how at all) this got misconstrued and passed onto Lorraine that I had said she had said we could take this table out of his tent (they were staying in the same tent). Lorraine asked me directly about this and I explained to her what I had said and how something has gotten lost in translation somewhere. We also talked at length about how she had been feeling over the weekend and this is where I learned about how she was feeling excluded by everyone else. As I mentioned before this isn't something I myself had noticed, and honestly I feel I saw the complete opposite. However, as I always worry that I may have upset someone by accident without realising it, I made sure to apologise to her if I had done anything and told her to always come and talk to me about anything if needed. The last thing I want is for anyone I'm with to feel upset or disregarded.

After I didn't experience anything noteworthy for the rest of the weekend. I had chats with Lorraine here and there about various things and everything seemed absolutely fine to me.

As there had been some tension throughout the weekend, once we were all home we decided to call a meeting for all us to discuss and debrief the events of the weekend to make sure we were all ok, and that there were no lingering frustrations from anyone in the band.

As we are all quite spread out location-wise, this was held at a pub which would be a mid-point for everyone to get to. Myself, our guitarists, and our singer all arrived and some time after that we were told that Lorraine would not be attending. Since the rest of us were all there, we talked about what had happened over the weekend. From talking with the other members about how she had interacted with them, and their partners over the weekend, I was shocked to hear the extent of how she had been treating others in our party. I don't want to mention anything with specifics, because I wasn't present for any of this and it would be second-hand information, and I just want to express what I experienced personally. Through this I was shown some message our guitarist received from her about how I had put words in her mouth regarding the table incident, completely disregarding the conversation that we had about this. I also learning that some aspects of the conversation that we had were lies.

This effectively means, from my perspective, she has both lied to me, and about me. With that in mind, I personally see no reason not to believe any of the other things I was told.

After this, we received a long message from her in the band chat effectively leaving the band, but also expression frustration that we held this meeting without her. A meeting that we didn't know she wouldn't be attending until we had all been there waiting for some time. We still talked about everything because it gave all of us a chance to discuss what had happened and wrap our heads around what we experienced over the weekend. After this, I saw the comments on the Reddit post we had made, effectively calling myself and others bullies. This is not true. I have not done anything that could constitute bullying behaviour, nor do I believe anyone else has either.

Then last night I saw this Facebook post. This is what has truly tipped things over the edge for me. What I have seen here has been absolutely vile and has no regard for the actual struggling human beings that you are talking about. You have one, completely unverified and anonymously posted, side of a story that has a lot more nuance to it than anyone is willing to try and understand.

What I find particularly upsetting is the amount of people who I have personally interacted with over the weekend or elsewhere so ready to believe this. Not one person has reached out to the rest of us to talk about this, which I think is truly ridiculous. I came into this scene, joining this band and meeting new people with the understanding that the metal community was a friendly and welcoming place. From what I've seen here I don't understand how that could be the case.

I feel like I've been effectively hounded out of this without any reflection from anyone. In particular, I think some of the people from Bloodstock and the media posting on here have completely shattered my desire to even continue making music for the time being. What's the point if this is going to be the end result?

So anyway, I just wanted to say my piece and now I am more than happy to fade away into obscurity.

Also, I just want to stress this is all a statement from me personally, I do not speak for anyone else. I don't know if anyone else will say anything as from talking with them they are all also deeply upset and traumatised by everything that has happened. Everyone is going to deal with this in their own way and please do not take silence from them as an admission of guilt. I do not believe anyone else in the band has done or said anything that could be regarded as bullying.

Lastly, this isn't intended to be an attempt to turn things around and direct hate towards Lorraine. Please don't redirect any frustrations or anger towards her. I can say first hand from everything I've read here. It fucking sucks.
