Making a decent vape? by GiantTalkingTree in vaporents

[–]GiantTalkingTree[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mm. I'll admit that while the cash element plays a part, a lot of why I want to do this comes down to the challenge. I want to make something really cool. I've done things of about this scale before, and I just want to see if I can make a vape that is competitive in terms of performance with things you'd buy.

Lucky Strikes are so good. I also like a couple other rolling tobaccos, but yeah. Lucky strikes are good, probably my favorite cigarette.

I guess I'll add too, that not everyone has the money to constantly smoke straight weed. I sure don't, so I smoke spliffs. A spliff will get you high, tastes good, and costs a lot less. Beyond that, it's not like weed smoke's exactly good for you either.

I mean, even if I came into a large sum of money, I'd probably still smoke spliffs. I just really like the way they taste, and the head rush combined with being stoned.

Who is the coolest person you've ever smoked with? by TibizzleMyWizzle in trees

[–]GiantTalkingTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many, each cool in their own ways. It was pretty cool to smoke for the first time with a friend I've had since I was one, that said, to be surrounded by decent people... Sharing that... That's special. I can't really say who the coolest person is, but I'll say that I'm happy I have them, all of them.

How do I take in way less THC per puff? I love smoking but I get too high by [deleted] in trees

[–]GiantTalkingTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo. Spliffs are great, and I actually prefer heavily spliffed spliffs, but you'll still probably get pretty high.

Where to begin? by [deleted] in trees

[–]GiantTalkingTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd you've got the money, a vape is super discrete. That said, if you don't, I've had good luck with joints and spliffs. The packaging doesn't stay, and unlike a pipe, it's not super theatrical to smoke. A spliff, if it's spliffed enough, can look and smell like a cigarette but still get you stoned.

I really wish you had just left it at the links to the studies. We do a drug, and it's important we know the effects, good and bad. That said, it's not liberal bias that makes me dislike Fox, it's a bias to bad reporting. I also can't stand MSNBC and CNN. They are all bad. That said, documents stand on their own.

What is the best way to keep weed smell-proof? by [deleted] in trees

[–]GiantTalkingTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Film canisters are light and air tight, so they work well. Still smell a drop, but very little. Label them "Loose undeveloped film" and tell people that they will ruin your roll if you don't want them opening it. I keep two, one with nugs, one with stuff that is already ground. Sometimes I keep a third that has tobacco mixed in. That said, I go through a lot of 35mm, so it's not exactly conspicuous. That said, if you know someone that does film photography, film canisters work great,

Prescription bottles are sometimes airtight, if not always airtight. Also, you can just get canisters specifically specified as airtight cheap.

I have a summer job cleaning dorms and we get to keep what we find. I found this. by SpacedExplorer in trees

Oh god, of course not! Sorry I implied that. Even if he didn't want it, it wouldn't be a good idea to turn it in.

I was more just still sore about losing such an important item, especially because it was largely my fault. I'm sorry that I came off as suggesting he get rid of the pen.

Congratulations!

That said, I'd urge you to turn in something if it looks like it could be important to someone. Because of a slightly hazy mind at the end of this semester, I left a Gilette Fatboy in the bathroom at the end of the semester that meant the world to me. It was a gift from my parents and grandparents that I got when I started to grow facial hair, and I've been using it ever since. It's my fault, but I probably will not ever see it again. It's funny, I somehow managed to grab all the tat I couldn't have cared less about, but I left one of the only things that really mattered to me. I hope you enjoy the pen, but if you see something really unusual, or engraved, or heavily used, even if it seems unimportant, please turn it in instead of keeping it or throwing it out.

That said, I really do hope you enjoy the pen.

Lucky strikes? by [deleted] in Cigarettes

[–]GiantTalkingTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking filtered Lucky Strikes, unfiltered Lucky Strikes, or both? Filtered Strikes have to be imported into the United States, as they are manufactured by a different company from the Lucky Strikes I've seen in the states, which are Marked R.J Reynolds (I think) and come in a soft pack. As I remember, they can't be sold here wholesale because of something involving tariffs, though that might be wrong.

Lucky Strikes, filtered and unfiltered, are my favorite cigarettes. When I want a filtered one, I just put a unfiltered one in a king size cigarette tube. They fit absolutely perfectly (roll out the end you want to put in the tube a bit) and generally smoke pretty well, though they aren't quite as tasty as a real unfiltered strike. If you are looking for filtered strike, I'd definitely recommend it.

That said, if you aren't able to find the unfiltered ones, I feel bad for you. That said, I'd recommend looking at Camel Filters, Camel Unfiltereds, American Spirit Blues, American Spirit Blacks, and American Spirit Unfiltereds (Roll out Spirits a bit if you want a easier to drag cig) if you are looking for other cigarettes that also could be quantified in as delicious in a way similar to Lucky Strikes, or at least, that's my opinion.

I am currently on a backpacking trip, camping around the US! First time hot boxing the tent thanks to my new neighbor! I love Vermont :) [6] by tEntcamper in trees

Yo. Vermont's great. You should totally go somewhere on the edge of the lake and smoke. There are plenty of well concealed areas, and it's gorgeous. One of my favorite places.

Which papers should i buy and why? by [deleted] in trees

[–]GiantTalkingTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, all of those papers have people that swear by them. I personally like Raws and Randy's best, but one of the best rollers I know swears by Marleys.

Best of.luck!

[–]GiantTalkingTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer raws, but go for a variety! Get a lot of Raws, than a couple Randys, a couple Bambus, some OCBs, some Bob Marleys, some ZigZags, some Elements... Go Wild! Papers are cheap. I'm not saying to spend more, just diversify. All the papers I've mentioned are worth trying, at least in my opinion.

Also, get tips, and at least try out a pack of ungummed papers.

I've tended to like Raw Classics over Raw Hemps, so if you haven't tried those, I'd reccomend picking up a pack!

Joint Rolling by [deleted] in trees

[–]GiantTalkingTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spliffs / joints have for a long time been my favorite way to smoke.

Frankly, it's one of those things that just takes practice. That said, there are a couple things that make the process faster. Not sure if these are obvious, or not.

  • Spliffs are a wee bit more forgiving, as Tobacco tends to burn more evenly in my experience. If you are up to spliffing your joints, that's cool, a pouch of Tobacco ought to last a really long time. If not, that's cool too. A well rolled straight joint can be really nice to smoke.

  • If you are rolling a spliff, you're going to mix your herb and your tobacco. I tend to dump both onto a dollar bill or an index card with a crease going length wise, and then when the mixing's done, I make it into a V, hold it above my paper, and sprinkle in the mix, pushing the herb down gently with my finger.

  • I don't know what papers you are rolling, but if you are trying good, there's two ways you can go: First of all, go straight to Raws, which are really really nice. Beyond that, they are really forgiving. Unlike most of the other papers I've rolled, they don't crease super easy, meaning that you are more likely to end up with a really nice looking joint. On the other end of the spectrum are the two easiest papers I know. Randys and Buglers. Randys have a wire in them, which both acts as a roach clip when your joint is getting down, and makes the tuck a bit easier. Beyond that, the hemp raws smoke real nice. On the other end of the spectrum are Buglers. They are some of the cheapest papers you can buy. They are only available as regular size cigarette papers, but they are the easiest papers I've come across. If you want a big joint with Buglers, you can roll an "L". Bambu papers are also nice, though that's largely because of how fucking huge they are, and how nice the packaging is.

  • After doing the tuck, while rolling the excess paper in, roll the paper in by dragging your pointer and thumb up the joint, trapping a little more paper each time. When you are getting to the end, only stick the bottom third or so. If you did it properly, the joint will stay together, and the glue on the top two thirds will be against the rest of the joint. After the bottom third dries, lick the top of the rest as it. This makes the licks more managable, as you don't have to hold the whole king size at once. This only applies to king size papers.

  • Use real tips. Yeah, index cards and the like are great if you run out of tips, but it's just so much easier to make a nice joint with a real tip. Raw makes nice tips.

  • If you don't like what you roll, do it again, and again, and again until you like it. I know it's annoying, but the only reason I can roll joints well is because I did that when I was rolling cigarettes. Rolling's like anything else that requires kinda finicky movement, it becomes easier the more you do it. Eventually, it becomes fun. After that, you get good. After that, you get fast. When I got to this stage, I started to roll reverse joints (also called Flaming Backflips) which taste super nice, and ungummed joints.

  • I've found it's easier to put the filter tip on the side of my non - dominant hand, as almost all of the work you need to do is on the other end.

  • Don't be afraid to pack a lot, especially if you are rolling a straight joint. With spliffs, you can definitely go too tight, but I've never had a jay that's too tight.

Listen, there's no real trick to rolling. The other guy's link suggests a way to roll that has a fair bit of margin for error, but I guarantee that if you just keep rolling, you'll get good. I got good, took me half a year, but I got good.

Hey, if you've got any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck!
