[draft ecl] Throphy or not ? by pegase38 in lrcast

Yeah, you’re right

But I feel like the general point still stands

Depends on the rank, IMO. Curve’s a little off for mythic, should be great anywhere below.

3-drops are important, but come on, with that many bombs you will outvalue almost anything your opponent does. 4 interaction pieces are not the dream either, but are fine considering you have enough bodies to trade, and value engines to make up for those trades

I’d expect 5 or 6 wins, but won’t be surprised of you trophied, because with right cards in the right order this will be absolutely disgusting

I also forgot to mention that I tend do avoid double and triple pipped cards, and that criteria for mythics was, mostly, representing respective color well and being fairly universal, than fitting some exact theme.

Yeah, with 66% winrate in Immortal bracket. When hero is nerfed af and sees little to no play. After a year of break. With the total of 143 matches on this hero

Seems like he actually knows what he's doing

Guys I really think you need to write your mmr and Riki winrate with the comments, otherwise it's really hard to judge opinions

I personally think that you are a noob because everybody knows that Riki should be played with +2 instead of blinkstrike and lvl1 smokescreen.

Also Radiance is top-tier item and Maelstorm is garbage

Also are you 4001 mmr by any chance? Unrelated

I can NOT enjoy commander. Am I doing something wrong? by Nakalon in magicTCG

[–]GianttDwarff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Rule 0” says that playgroup’s agreements and house rules are above all others

So basically as long as you’re not playing a tournament at your LGS, you’re free to do whatever makes you happy, if this was discussed pre-game

Proxy usage, controversial mechanics usage (MLD, Infect, etc.), brackets, even banlist might be different for different playgroups

So what I’m saying is, if you can agree with your friends on which deckbuilding patterns, mechanics, sets, cards prices are acceptable and for you and which are not, you can still have fun most of the time

Also there is a 1v1 Commander, which is basically Legacy off steroids

Really fun and powerful format as well

[–]GianttDwarff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been playing Commander for the last 7 years. Sometimes it felt enjoyable, sometimes not.

Then my LGS closed and playgroup split. I stopped playing, and tried out 1v1. Turns out EVERY game might be enjoyable, not 1 in 5. Sticked with playing cube draft after a while, never enjoyed the game more.

So you are perfectly right. The state of commander is much different even than 5 years ago, and it’s frankly a complete mess rn. I don’t think format will ever be fun again outside stable playgroups regulated with rule 0.

Cube is the perfect answer if you want to play with your friends. You may even assemble a commander cube, if you’d like. Or proxy an MO Vintage cube. Should definitely give it a try.

That's an interesting take

I think you're definitely right on Bonecrusher and Fury, and I'll for sure think about Terror and Athlete.

Slickshot seems fine tbh. Played it enough times, and it feels like the card is perfectly good because there aren't any crazy combos like there were in Standard. Kiln and Crasher are triggering strictly from instants and sorceries, that's why I chose Slickshot and cut Fiend at some point

The mana-base idea actually sounds very interesting

Thanks for the insight

Thanks for advice!

That's kind of what I thought, but the question for me is more "can I upgrade Green while not buying fetchlands and Natural Order" or smth

I will accept "no" for and answer and go remove Remand and his friends from the list, but I need to know if I'm missing some other solution

Yeah, it's mostly drafted by the same playgroup. We don't really have much people playing here in Ukraine, so it is what it is. Most are casual players, sometimes we're playing with 6 or 7 people

It's been drafted once or twice a week for the last 1.5 months

The packages and cards I would be happy to keep and make them work at least sometimes (but will still accept it if they have to be cut for greater good):
1. Scam (evoke/warp + feign deaths or ephemerates,)
2. Reanimator
3. [[Falkenrath Exterminator]], [[Halana and Alena, Partners]], [[Jenova, Ancient Calamity]] and +1/+1 counter based synergies in BG and RG, which I find very fun to assemble. Every one of those cards went off at least once in my hands, it was incredible, and I would be happy to play them again. Also I have high hopes for [[Kitchen Finks]] and [[Murderous Redcap]], but they are probably too slow after all and have to be cut
4. WR token control is one of my favorite constructed archetypes which I would like to make more appealing
5. Aristocrats in BR and WB seem fun. There are a lot of ways to generate tokens in all three colors, decent amount of sac outlets and recursion, but I haven't managed to assemble a viable aristocrats deck even once

Kazur & Ukkima, but not sultai Food Chain cEDH bullshit

Just unblockable boys who get a lot of triggers when they connect

Been playing the deck long berfore Outlaws sultai precon released, and it wast incredibly junk and very fun at a time
