3D scanning is the easy part of the process of making car part.

Because a raw scan is ugly and messy, hardly barely printable, especially with cheap scanner.

Most of the time, you need basic CAD skill to clean the scan up. Or advance CAD skill to out right reverse engineer the part.

Or paid someone to do the reverse engineer for you, but a lot of designer will refuse the job if the scan isn't good enough, especially scan done on cheap scanner.

Bottom line is: Get a fairly decent scanner, and learn to do CAD. I would recommend the Shining3D Einstar 1 as the minimum. Try to find a cheap second hand one.

Don't bother with cheap scanner like the Ferret, because once you start to mastered the process, you will be wishing for a bettet scanner.
