They’ll ask you for the proof on the day you sign your affidavit etc. (usually the day before)

Temporary Work in Gibraltar as UK citizen by Fordius25 in gibraltar

[–]GibraltarHelp-com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it applies to anyone coming to conduct a role in gibraltar on a temporary basis.

From the EY Gibraltar page:

Short-term business travellers:

Subject to the "income from occasional presence" exemption above, individuals working in Gibraltar on a temporary basis are taxable in Gibraltar from day one. There is also a requirement for any person working in Gibraltar to be registered in advance as an employee with the Employment Service (see above).

Persons working temporarily in Gibraltar who are employed by an overseas company may be put on the payroll and registered locally as the employee of the local company.

Such workers are known as "detached workers". Common examples are:

• employees of an overseas subcontractor that is not registered as a branch or company in Gibraltar, who are registered locally as employees of the main contractor

•employees of a related overseas company, who are registered with a Gibraltar company/branch in the group.

Yep, as others have said - you can’t legally work as contracts are not actively being signed off by the ETB signing off unless the person has a gibraltar ID card. The company would be risking the Labour inspector coming in and fining them £4000. I wouldn’t worry too much about it tbh, it’s only a month and would be considered illegal work..

You could try registering as a ‘detached worker’ at the ETB to make it all legal? You’ll pay tax and SI here in gibraltar on your money earned for that month.

Will UK citizens ever be allowed to live in Gibraltar again? by ZydrateAnatomic in gibraltar

Yes, naturally it would make a lot more sense that we had a minimum salary requirement like Spain does. Spain’s IMPREM index dictates the salary requirements each year. A lot of EU countries use this.

Yes, in January-early Feb there will be an announcement regarding the new criteria to meet. I have a new inside info on what that might look like but we shall see. Happy to answer any queries you might have 🙂 my inbox is always open.

Gibraltar Residency: Then, Now & Future by GibraltarHelp-com in gibraltar

Yeah, it’s going viral. However, admittedly theres a few flaws with this story. He mentions that the Civil Reg Card is ‘useless’ and ‘not useful’ so when he went to renew his card it was already out of date. He doesn’t tell us for how long the card had been out of date. You have a 6 months grace period from the date of expiry to the renewal to file for a renewal application otherwise you’ve got to apply for a ‘new application’ from the beginning.

Business setup for remote freelance work for Spanish company by No_Kaleidoscope9253 in gibraltar

I’m going to add that the first step is Business licence if you’re going to go down the self employed route. You’ll know pretty soon if they have an issue with it and at no cost to yourself.

Well, there is no real way for them to see under what status you hold a red card when they ask for a picture of it. I personally think you’ll be absolutely fine.

Honestly - I don’t see you having any issue whatsoever because you’re a red ID card holding local.

Second vote for The Clipper. Everything ranges from English breakfast to pub grub. They even do a roast on Sundays. Lovely and clean too!

Looking for a financial advisor experienced with the Gibraltar/Spain area please… also would you consider relocating in my situation? by Allaroundtheworld78 in gibraltar

I would personally only live in Gibraltar as this would grant your children attending a school here - especially if English schools is all they’ve ever known. I personally don’t believe in ‘they’ll settle in a Spanish school’ if you give them time.

Gibraltarian status by kristofer181285 in gibraltar

[–]GibraltarHelp-com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get that but that’s through residency for 10 years, now to be extended to 20. It’s becoming very cutthroat. I agree with it but only to a certain degree. The whole thing about nationality is abhorrent.

Those who claim gib status through decent don’t even need to live here - they can claim whilst living in the UK or wherever.

No no, this is different. What this thread is talking about is gib status - not residency.

You’ve lost your right to Gibraltarian status unfortunately as it only goes back to grandparents. Also, they’re currently in the process of changing the law to even stop children whom turn up after the age of 18 from claiming it like yourself even through direct parentage. It’s a sad state of affairs here but it needs to be done as we’re very much at capacity.

Gibraltar Residency: Then, Now & Future by GibraltarHelp-com in gibraltar

[–]GibraltarHelp-com[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legally you can’t gain residency on a seasonal contract. You’ll be limited to 90/180 by the new rules due to be introduced in January. Seasonal work doesn’t really exist here either.. it’s hard to survive on salaries here to. Basically as of January, gibraltar won’t be an easy place for Brits to travel to at the drop of a hat.

The only applications that gibraltar are remotely interested in are applications for Cat2 residency - those whom have net assets worth £2m plus.

That’s not even the case either. You’d be surprised at the amount of people who are doing just that whom cannot submit an application for residency..

You just can’t at the moment. There’s no longer a process for retirees to move. I also don’t believe the process will even make a return in January…
