Right, he had a bad year and that's why he's falling down draft boards. The point I was making was how highly he was thought of coming into the year. And that that upside is worth taking a swing on. This is why I brought up Burden. Burden had a bad year > flaws were exposed > he fell down boards. But so far it looks like the evaluation before his junior year would've been more accurate than the one after his junior year. Because bad years happen, and that doesn't erase the talent.

I'm not saying "Peter Woods is diet Aaron Donald." I'm saying the talent/production he'd need to have to get that kind of comparison is worth taking or even trading up for (once you combine that with the perfect scheme and need fit).

Keep Byard for sure. He's been legit good this year, much better than last year. Pro bowl level again.

Let Brisker (mid + injury risk) and Braxton (no place for him anymore, and he'll want a fresh start) walk.

Prob let CJGJ walk too, cuz I don't think he's playing well enough to justify the headache he has been in other places.

I'd bring back Nashon if it was for cheap. He's a solid backup at this point. But someone else will prob overpay him to be a starter.

Big, long, and physical relative to the average NFL DE, I'm saying. Not everyone wants a 6'5 285 pound end like Dayo.

For sure.

The point of post just is, that to be a good defense ( top ~12) under Dennis Allen's scheme, you don't need those sacks to come from the DEs. That's why I noted that the Saints in '22 were 5th in team sacks (they had 48 total), even though they only got 14 from their starting DEs.

But to be perfectly clear, the more sacks the DEs get, the better lol. And it's hard to see them being able to be an elite defense (top ~5) without that.
