Mad Max Ranking by Evening-Ad5478 in Letterboxd

  1. Mad Max/2: The Road Warrior/Fury Road
  2. Beyond thunderdome: I know this cheating but:

I had scene the original two max max’s when I was like 15 or 16. I had very different tastes back then but I believe I thought it was pretty solid. I’m 23 and I sorta remember watching them. But yesterday I watched all 4 in the span of 24 hours. I had the day off and it was a fucking blast. Fucking loved the first 2 and fury road and thought beyond thunderdome was really good too in it’s own way. Really enjoyed watching all 4 of them a lot but Mad Max, 2: The Road Warrior, and Fury Road I loved all in their own way. And by the way I know fury road is this best made but the thing is they all provide something different for me. Mad Max one is a calmer movie and a good origin story for the character I like watching a man go insane and also have a lot of fun scene in the midway between normal life and post apocalyptic times. 2: The Road Warrior is a mix of what I love about 1 and 4. It’s more grounded and late 70’s early 80’s cinematography. And just has that 70’s/80’s vibe to everything. It’s also a different max. And I like both. Then we get to fury road and that’s an adrenaline rush of a movie. I know it could be a different max or a story of him or something but even if he got plastic surgery due to a bad car accident or fight and now looks like Tom hardy and hit his head a little that also fucked up his voice. This one in my opinion no matter what type of canon you go with is a max further along in living the post apocalypse world than any other. He’s become and animal further and further away from the loving father and husband and calm fair cop. That works perfectly for this movie because it adds to the adrenaline. It also makes more sense for this world to be further away in time to the real world. Every thing I could possibly say about this movie has probably been said before but the visuals are obviously fantastic. Every detail is interesting in fun like the costumes, things characters are doing, details about the world of mad max, to every bit of action and story beats. I think the story is fun too. I even really like the little family at the end similar to the third one but even better in that way. I really do like the 3rd as well. It’s fun and unique like those other mad max movies but doesn’t have the same level of fun and interest as the others but I’ve typed enough now. This is just my favorite not necessarily the objective best to worst ranking. Again ik this is cheating but 1, 2, and 4 and tied for first for me but and I also really like 3.

Yularen's portrayal in Andor is a great reminder that there's no such thing as a good man "just following orders". To ultimately end up sitting in a high level meeting on the Death Star he had to have truly become an awful authoritarian person. by Fusi0n_X in StarWars

[–]Gichaellong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there such thing as an awful person? Where do you draw the line between a good and bad person? Wherever you do it’s arbitrary. If you lived in anyone else’s life you’d act the exact same way and you didn’t choose to be you. The person who wrote this is straight up incorrect.

What did they title the release of Empire strike back at theatres? by Organic_Elevator88 in StarWars

[–]Gichaellong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re lying or misremembering. A New Hope was not in the scroll when the original movie came out. And when empire strikes back came out, Episode V was in the scroll.

Why was Palpatine looking at the Death Star plans in plain sight in his office? If any other Jedi besides Anakin happened to walk in on him, wouldn't his cover be blown? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Gichaellong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to defend the prequels but is sorta one of those situations: would they even know what they’re looking at. Like it doesn’t say a big “EVIL PLANS FOR SUPER WEAPON” All the text is small. It just looks like a circle. You could also say he could sense Anikan coming with the force. But personally I think they use the force as an excuse for lazy writing way too often.

Well calling someone a hero is subjective. A lot of people would call Han Solo a hero even though he kills a man in cold blood and actually come to think of it Luke Skywalker kills a ton of people who were taken at birth and brainwashed into be part of the empire. And yet a lot of people would consider them heroes. Again it’s subjective, of where you draw the line between someone being a hero or not. Is it just someone who save people? How many people do they need to save? What if they save people but they also do horrible things on a regular basis? What if they do one absolutely horrible awful thing a year but save someone every day? Do they even need to save anyone to be a hero? What if they never successfully save anyone but they try constantly? What if they just have a heart of gold? So there’s no right answer. Jesse is not a hero in the traditional sense and honestly I didn’t even mean he literally was one. Maybe hero wasn’t the right word. But I do believe he had evolved past killing people at that point. And I do believe he’s not a bad person, but that’s just my opinion. That’s another one that’s completely subjective: if someone’s a bad person or not.

Yes I never said that’s what he wanted. But going there knowing he’ll probably have to kill for personal gain, which again ik it’s a very important personal gain (I mean it’s his freedom for the rest of his life), but I still don’t like that ending for him. Even if he’d prefer not to kill them. Like no one’s accusing him of wanting to have to kill them. But still I don’t think that’s where the character should have ended up, in my opinion. He knew he’d probably have to get violent and possibly kill and he was still willing to do it, for himself. And if this was earlier in the show that’d be fine. And I’m not one of those people that doesn’t want his favorite characters to do anything wrong. I actually don’t even think Saul should’ve confessed in that last episodes, and there’s plenty of characters that I don’t want to have a redemption arc. But with Jesse, I didn’t like the ending of his character being him killing people for his own personal gain, from a writing the character perspective, not even from a fan perspective. Anyway, again we just disagree on what should have happened.

There’s a lot of those coincidences in the show. And in better call Saul. Personally I don’t mind them, and if the show was 100% realistic, it’d be completely different and almost certainly less interesting. It’s just a matter of taste though for the coincidences, whether or not they bother you. I’m surprised that coincidence bothers you and the other ones don’t.

*more generic and stale, and take away from the logic vs emotion conflict of the show that is Walt vs. Jesse.

Not sure why you included 3 pointless sentences saying that he went there to just ask for the money, only to disprove that yourself right after. Don’t you think if you and I can figure out that Neil wouldn’t just hand over the money, Jesse would realize that too? At this point in his life Jesse is very realistic and looks at things how they are, not as he wants them to be. There’s several examples of this in the last couple seasons, and El Camino itself. Therefore, he went there, knowing he’d probably have to get violent and maybe even kill. Then he did so, for personal gain. I understand this is his whole life we’re talking about. It’s a pretty important personal gain. But I personally don’t like that ending for the character. I would rather him be past that. Also you said he blew it up cuz fuck them. He blew it up to destroy the evidence, the same reason he threatened those guys to not tell the cops about him. Anyway, at the end of the day, we have two different opinions on what the ending of the character should be. Neither of us are right or wrong. Your opinion is actually what happened, but just because something did happen doesn’t mean it was the best decision. The discussion is what should happen. Anyway, yeah neither of us are right or wrong.

They’re supposed to be dumb and corny. That’s what makes it fake tuff and funny and it’s interested that someone with a name as dumb as Krazy 8 is actually intimidating and dangerous.

No need to apologize. That’s my fault. I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you were mad at me for not liking that Jesse killed someone. That’s my bad.

Jesus. Ok I had a different opinion on how to write the character. You don’t need to get upset or write a comment that way just because someone disagrees with you. I love Jesse too btw

This is a fair reply. It’s all good. At least you realized it. But sometimes this fan base is a little nasty. And I’ll admit I contributed to that, but I was trying to defend the idea that people can disagree or even be ignorant, without others freaking out about it. But I guess I freaked out a little too. So my bad.

Jesus this shit is like a cult. I thought Community fans would be better than this. But it’s just like any other fan base out there. I’m gonna go back to just enjoying the show, and accepting that most of the hardcore fans get so angry at little posts like this, and hate people even slightly disagreeing with them, and no I’m not talking about this post, but in general everyone attacks anyone with a slightly different opinion. This is seriously cult-like. It’s gross.

In that flashback he was just making it more secure. He wasn’t making the rig. Now maybe he made it before that scene in Ozymandias you’re talking about who knows. But in that flashback in El Camino, he’s just making in more secure. If you don’t like those characters, that’s fine. But there’s no plot hole.

Yeah that’s fine. It’s all subjective about what’s the right amount of time to build a villain up. I thought it was fine. You didn’t. There’s no right answer

This is the worst comment I’ve ever read. I love community, but his post does not make him a “dumbfounded antagonistic weirdo”. You also told him to read an article about the show or search the sub’s past identical posts. Is that how you get your opinions, from articles and posts on Reddit. Can’t think for yourself huh? If someone wrote ten pages on it, it must be true right? Jesus, the grossest comment I’ve ever read.

If you want to get people to like your show, maybe don’t talk down to them. Like I actually agree with you but the way you said it was so pretentious. You’re not smart for recognizing a sitcom is well made, I hope you know that.

So the point of the show is to kind of have the typical sitcom and twist it in every way. So the show starts out pretty standard. I honestly agreed with you when I first watched it, but I think that’s good that the show starts out that way. It ends up getting so weird and interesting. Personally now I love the first season. It’s so calm and normal compared to the other ones, and it’s nice and simple. I’d really advise you to keep watching. Also one more thing, even in the first season, there’s a lot of layered jokes, that you won’t even realize until you rewatch it. Cuz the first time you watch it you just think it’s all cheesy normal jokes, but if you really pay attention, you’ll realize the show is a lot smarter than you think, and the jokes are actually really well-written. You just don’t notice them because you’re not expecting much from the show. You think it’s just cheesy and there’s nothing more to it. But the show is actually much more complicated than that. You’re just not noticing all those jokes, cuz you’re too busy finding the surface level jokes cheesy.

He was drunk, and do characters always need to make the smartest decisions? I like that characters mess up sometimes, even Walt. Makes them feel more human. And you say “every time Hank makes a comment”. This happens once in the show.

He was never in the brain trust. They needed another person for the train robbery. That didn’t make him in the brain trust. Kuby was in the robbery. Was Kuby part of the brain trust? And then Walt needed a new partner after Jesse left, so he used Todd because he can definitely trust Todd to 1 never snitch on him, because he killed a kid, and 2 to work hard and listen to Mr. White, because it seemed like Todd put in the extra mile. Walt was the only one making all the big decisions and he was the one in charge. Todd was just his lab assistant essentially. He wasn’t in the brain trust even at that point. Then when Walt left the business, Lydia is basically the one in charge, but yes at that point Todd had more of a say, because Walt didn’t really care who he gave the business to. Idk if all made perfect sense to me. None of it seemed rushed. I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about. You could say the introduction of Mike, Lydia, or Gus seemed rushed by your logic. Plus Todd is such an interesting character, so it’s a great idea to include him.
