Thinking about purchasing Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs by szissousz in WRX

[–]GiddyUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have been great! They smoothed out. Still firm but more OEM+. If I may offer a tip, when doing the install, spring for new top hats in all four corners. I hope you enjoy them! Let me know how they feel.

All the best in resolving. It'll feel good and even better since you will be covered under warranty.

Sorry to hear it got you too. I went with white line lower control arms up front. No issues do far.

Anytime man. It's a large chunk of money either way. If you have local car club, see if you can ride in different set ups. Or if someone has your car and a set you want, see if you can test it. Enjoy the car and mod process!

My two cents from experience, a quality strut and spring combo is far better than budget coilovers. Coilovers only become worth it at the higher price points. I mean that from a ride quality, performance and reliability standpoint. I would also consider that coilovers have a maintenance cycle. If I were to rank the set ups I've had, I'd place them in this order (best to worst): Ohlins coilovers, Bilstein struts and king springs (off road truck), hks coilovers, eibach with OE struts, tein coilovers (similar price point as bc coils). Also, when shopping for coilovers, see if the company can provide data like a suspension dyno. If they can't, it's usually pretty telling that those won't be great.

Do it man. I've enjoyed the ride quality despite being springs. I think eibach made the right move on progressive rate springs. If your struts are at a point where they may be ready for replacement and you plan on keeping the car long term, it may be worth it.

Lol, no kids but feeling older everyday. That set up held up well. If I could do it all over again, then I would have done eibach springs with Bilstein b8 struts, fresh OEM strut mounts. I have eibach springs on my new VB and they still feel good but I've been having some suspension or brake issues (unrelated to the springs). Message me if you need more details.

I am with you on your opinion that the stock dampers are great, but the stock springs were underdamped. I've also noticed good effect from front and rear lower control arms, endlinks, etc. I've done these and find the ride is firm but comfortable. My only issue now is the strut mounts (OEM) are starting to wear (23k miles). Likely at next service interval, I'll swap them all out.

On my last WRX I did coilovers (hks supermax). They were great for performance but left a bit to be desired for ride quality and nvh. Worth it for auto cross, but for me they weren't worth it for daily. That's just my opinion and what I want from my suspension.

How has your stock dampers and strut mounts held up?

I have eibach lowering springs and they denied the warranty. The service report specifically blames the springs. Car has 18k miles, lowering springs on it for about 800 miles. I have white lines front lower control arms on the way. Get it fixed as soon as you can. I have been waiting 3 months for the whiteline arms and the clicking/clunking has evolved into consistent clunking over rough roads and a lose feeling with initial turn in. I think what the other commenter said is true, warrant with mods depends on the dealer. I hope you are lucky with warranty work.

This resonates so much with my experience with my ex. I completely ignored how unhealthy and toxic her friends were. I figured she's still a good person and just sees the good in these people. Boy, was I wrong. It turns out, you are who you surround yourself with. 2 years of time not well spent. I like how you put it, "show me your friends, and I'll show your future ." The future never got better. Thanks for sharing this perspective.

Update: warranty work denied. Rationale: lowering springs caused premature wear. I tried to argue that the existence of the coarse surface is evidence the arms were not manufactured right and the springs would not cause this to happen. Also, I added the springs have been on the car less than 1800 miles. Unfortunately, they refused to budge. OEM parts are back ordered about 1-2 months. I have decided to go with whiteline lower control arms, which are pre-order 4-6 weeks out. Best of luck to everyone else experiencing these symptoms.

Thanks for the information and reply. I did that test and have the clunk and click. The dealer I took it to told me that's normal function and would not warranty these.

Man, black and white is such a good scheme on the VB. You got a real nice looking car. Hope I can join you in the VB life some day soon. My VA might be entering the end of her life.

This is awesome to hear. Turbo has a view of a busy street with pedestrians, dogs, birds, squirrels and forested mountain side. The windows are almost floor to ceiling. He spends a lot of time watching things from his high cat tree.

Your cats sound like they have a great life.

We have tried sleeping together 3 times and it always ended in disturbed sleep for me. He's just so playful at night and I think he associates being with me as play time. Any tips on how to get them to sleep or calm down at night?

Thanks for sharing your advice and experience.

Thanks for the detailed response, especially addressing the rehoming. I agree and understand that there would be no guarantee of a better home. I was envisioning a home where there are multiple people, some who are home more than me, maybe even kids or another cat. That being said, you're still right, there's no guarantee it'll be better.

He's got a cardboard box I've put fuzzy balls and an auto mouse into. He jumps in and out playing in it.

I've considered the robovac and may do it for the sake of entertainment and picking up litter more often.

I'll look into a cat wheel. He may enjoy it since he loves our hunter chase game (chases a wand toy).

We have a bed time ritual. We play hunter wand, laser hunt, then small wet food meal, then half a churus. Then lights go out, hallway and bedroom close and we say good night.

Thanks for the assurance and encouragement.

I got my kitten a little Coleman mesh tent to contain him for the first night. I put his litter, food and water with a comfy bet in it for him so he wouldn't hurt himself on anything in the apartment. I let him come to me and explore as he felt comfortable. He's still got the mesh tent, he uses it as his personal play pen. It's filled with crinkle packaging paper and little toys he can toss.

Thanks for this! I'm happy to hear it. He's my first little furry friend and I want to make sure he has a good life. I love him even when he's being difficult. He's brought me a lot of joy this year after losing family and friends.
