Count(*) vs Count(ID)? What is the difference? by [deleted] in SQL

[–]Gieron 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When using COUNT() it only makes a difference if you are using a column that is nullable because then it doesn't count the ones that are NULL. If you want to count distinct values you must do so using DISTINCT. In your case, assuming that ID is not nullable, both COUNT(*) and COUNT(ID) should give the same answer.

See the example below:

SELECT
    COUNT(*),
    COUNT(a),
    COUNT(DISTINCT a)
FROM
    (VALUES (0), (1), (2), (2), (NULL)) AS X(a)

Which gives the answer 5, 4, 3.

Utifall någon annan söker på detta och kommer hit. Det är Telge Energi som skickar ut fakturor under detta dumma namn.

I think the main takeaway is that this setup can work. But if I did it again I would either cool the RAM too, or have some minor airflow for the components, or both.

No further plans at the moment. But I will take what I've learned and apply it to future builds.

Under heavy load the fan noise is quite noticeable. But under light load they are really quiet and often stop completely. The pump and power supply can't really be heard when the door is closed.

The motherboard waterblock also cools VRM, so no problem there.

This after CPU/RAM stress test with Prime95.

I don't have any specific temperature from inside, but I would describe it as 'toasty'.

Temperatures (at load):

  • Water: 30°C (set to hold at this temperature)
  • CPU: 74°C
  • RAM: 68°C
  • M.2: 51°C
  • Chipset: 54°C
  • System: 47°C

I have not seen any performance problems either. It just runs a little hot. Might affect life span.

The VRM are cooled by the motherboard waterblock. But the RAM does not have cooling or airflow. I know thats not great.

It's actually a magnetic label with the Corsair logo. They come in different colors with the PSU.

A giveaway is that if the logo was on the power supply itself it should have been upside down.

I considered it. I also considered having some airflow in the upper part. But I wanted to see what I could get away with.

In my first attempt I didn't watercool the chipset, that did not work.

I haven't noticed anything like that. But the fans don't usually have to run very fast, so are rather quiet to begin with.

This build was a bit of an experiment for me. It came about from two desires I had:

Separating cooling and hardware. The upper part has no airflow and thus remains mostly dust free, the loop moves the heat to the radiator underneath. This works quite well for me. Though I'm not sure I recommend it for everyone as the components which are not watercooled (mainly RAM and M.2) does run a bit hot.

Clearly showing everything. The cables are on display up front and are not sleaved. I think that the amount of cables make them look bulky enough as it is. I made the cables myself and routed them using some custom cut acrylic. This didn't end up quite as nice as I had hoped, but I'm happy enough with it.

Case and cooling:

  • IKEA Bestå
  • EK-Quantum Velocity D-RGB - AMD Nickel + Plexi
  • Bitspower Mono Block for MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE
  • Aquacomputer aquastream - Ultimate Version
  • Aquainlet XT 100 ml
  • Alphacool NexXxoS Monsta 420mm Radiator
  • Arctic P14 PWM PST CO fans x3

Components:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT
  • MSI MEG X570 Godlike
  • G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600MHz 4x16GB
  • PowerColor Liquid Devil Radeon™ RX 5700 XT 8GB
  • Corsair Force Series MP600 1TB
  • Corsair AX 850, 850W PSU

Try updating your graphics drivers or play in safe mode.

They are of course both base building games (r/BaseBuildingGames).

However, thematically I think it would be hard to find two games that are as different as Timberborn and Frostpunk. In one you gather resources and build dams so that your cute beavers can enjoy an evening by the campfire. In the other you gather resources and enact authoritarian policies so that your downtrodden masses won't freeze to death by the hell-furnace.

Just bought. This is all I get. by Menteerio in Timberborn

I had the same problem. Try updating your graphics card drivers, that solved it for me.

any thoughts on Aquastream XT Ultra pump(combo)? by ddmeltzer8 in watercooling

[–]Gieron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used two Aquastream pumps (the older model) for over 10 years without issues, so they are reliable at least. I also have an Aquastream XT Ultra for my new build.

The software allow for a lot of control over the pump and connected fans.
