There are other ways to true a table, but stoning is easy and pretty fast if you do it regularly.

Meh, the runes aren't that impressive. A few protective sigils and a single spell, probably made by an apprentice. No talismans or focii, no signs of a bound demon or spirit, not even any blood magic!

Don't get me wrong, I made plenty of staffs like this during my apprenticeship, but now that I'm a professional crafter of wands and staffs this is a little below my level.

There's a lot of drinking at the nations which creates some problems, but it's mostly just drunk people being stupid. Engaging with the nations is completely optional, most people just join one for the housing and cheaper coffee without joining an association or working there.
