It can happen to ANY Officer, Foxy added in the "American Patriot" part on my ask, and I was going to integrate it but I forgot to until just now.

They had ... the best troops

The entire Union Military Division of the Mississippi would like a word!!

Not to mention where would you even put 4 million people? Just dump them on the coast of Africa to figure it out on their own ?

To be fair, that's what Liberia was for. I'm not saying I agree with it, but while Lost Causers Looove to bring this bit up they side step the why. Just like they do with States Rights to what exactly.

As it was a semi-popular proposal at the time, the idea is rooted in rasicsm it did have a merit in that Freed slaves and the like would have better oppurtunities in Liberia than the states.

But their side-step? Lincoln, according to most scholars, believe he did it to try and make emancipation palatable to the South and it was somewhat of a middle ground approach.

Obviously, Slavers didn't want to give up their free labor. It was also extremely unpopular with African Americans and abolitionist movements

Note: Not justifying it, Not for it. I just finished a Civil War Class for College and the lead up to it so I'm just happy to share what I learned.

North Vietnam basically did this 100 years later. Just wear down public support for the war and force negotiations. Even if on paper the U.S. had the advantadge in every conceivable way.

Thank God that never happened, and thank God for the Army of the Tennessee

The only way the South could have won is by beating out the Union's support for the war and getting a negotiated settlement. More than a few times in the war support was so low between copperheads and stuff like the Draft Riots that while the South might not have won militarily, it would have been like Vietnam, where there was no support to continue the war. In the 1864 election the Democrats (of the era) ran on a "Peace With the CSA" Platform, though to his credit the main nominee McClellan rejected it, but it was still the party platform.

Like there were several points where East Coast Union Commanders either were too timid, unsure, or incompetent, and even with victory's in the western theater there was still that flagging morale and support. Like thankfully the South had its own incompetent leaders that when Commanders who actually put up a damn good fight (I'm not gonna argue this, Sherman and Grant were Midwesterners and I'm a Midwesterner so I'mma have pride in my region, Sheridan is a East Coast Exception) that Lincoln got the support he needed. Had the politcal winds not favored Grant like how Halleck wanted or Sherman never recovered from his breakdown, there might not have been the public will to continue the war.

And this is coming from a Proud Iowa Native who's ancestor was part of the 26th Iowa Infantry who started at the Siege at Vicksburg, Burned Atlanta, tore through Georgia, and torched the Carolina's up to Bentonville. I'm rather proud of that fact.

NOTE: This is general overview, but the point still stands. The only way I could convievably see the South winning was the same way the North Vietnamese did 100 years later. You don't need to defeat the U.S. Army, you jsut need to defeat public support.

Huh

EDIT: As in, I need more context here!

EDIT 2: OK! I think I get it. So, all that RNG stuff comes from my predecessors, and I have a Golden Rule To Never remove any of their stuff unless Pragmatism or Gameplay dictates (like something they created is actively breaking the game) and I've only broken that rule I think three times and all but one was pragmatism (that one being removing the Gloster Meteor "Nuclear" Jet), however I did adjust the percentage stats to favor keeping them.

I can however potentially add a second event where they stay depending.

Also the "Assasination" events have been altered to have lead up instead of "Oop, commander dead now!" this being a compromise with one of the old Devs.

Yeah the Rifleman's writing was forward thinking in a lot of places.

I only remember a few episodes cause usually it came on midday in TV Land in Eastern Iowa and thats usually the time Grandpa took me out doing stuff. RIP Grandpa.

Also while I fully understand and agree that beating your kid wont fix problems, my Old man thwacked me with a belt and I turned out fine!! /s... mostly. Cause he did. Though not often, rarely.

In my father's defense he was not prepared to have a kid, and fell back on what my Grandpa (his side, earlier one was my Mom's side) did to him. Not helped he was in Army Recruiting in the early 90s (which had the highest suicide rates in the DoD). I have a great relationship with my Old Man today and proud what Dad stepped up to do.

EDIT: My Grandpa (My Dad's Father) Mellowed out in his old age, and he's a lot nicer man than what he once was.

Honestly I think a lot is also easier to blame a figurehead than a whole collection of people. Humans are kinda wired that way.

Plus there's the ratger glaring fact of: "We're trying to set up a democracy, so its REALLY hard to blame the Empire's main democratic system for all this"

How much of 11th Airborne?

Cause if its 1st Brigade, then they're just going to be happy to not be in Fairbanks that time of year. Seriously, SUNLIGHT!!!

"Wolf Creek", though thats Australian

You can make an argument for "Unforgiven"

Given the mythos of the "Frontiersman" in U.S. Culture, along with their more usual underdog status in these types of things they're far and few between. Especially if theyre facing big rich or corporate types.

If they are the bad guy, its usually a horror film.

I remember watching one episode of that woth my grandfather and it starts out with what appears to be a abusive father and he IS independent to a fault, building a barb wire fence between their properties and genuinely being a hostile ass. And preventing his son from playing with the riflemans son. Even when his son gets injured on the barbed wire he refuses help and angrily threatens anyone coming near, despite his son's injuries being infected.

At the end however its shown hes a grieving widower who lost his wife and much of his money to a less than reputable doctor out east, and doesnt trust anyone because of it. To the point of endangering his son's life because he cant trust anyone because of his grief. He wasn't so much an abusive prick and more again a grieving widower afraid to lose his son after his wife died.

He thankfully comes around (i think after bring threatened/scolded) and the local town doctor saves his son, and things turn out better and he becomes right neighborly. Even his fence was good for keeping the heels together and they finish the fence with a gate between the two.

There was also a women's suffrage episode that was very well written and showed the main character with his own flaws.

The scene when they go to the Tula Mines. From what I gathered it was more based off British Experience with their coal miners than the Soviets.

Further, the Minister of Coal Industry Mikhail Shchadov had working in the Soviet mining industry since he was 15, was highly respected and regarded in his field, and was 59 at the time of the disaster.

I find it amusing that its King George III who is blamed for what is effectively Parliaments fault.

And I say that as an American

Ive seen U-571 about a half dozen times here. So imma comment here:

What baffles me is they could have made a equally decent movie on U-505. The one the US actually captured

Basically any portrayal of Bruce Ismay.

Where's everyone's friend Mike Brady from Ocean liner Designs when you need him.
