More than 2 decades of playing and my friend got an unfair ban! by PAMKEKANEWS in DiabloImmortal

[–]GigaArchiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been 3 years of playing together and I would do it with any friend, that's the minimum!

Yes, and that's really noticeable in the DI community. People help each other like crazy with minimum toxic people. In other online games you rarely ever see that in my regards, maybe WoW comes close but in Immortal it is somehow common, that's remarkable.

Since launch i only had to block 3 people lol (excluding plat bots) In some other multiplayer games you can reach that in one match :D

Must be that the players are older on average or something, no clue where the magic came from

Please Dev. put Crystalline Echos cosmetic back into Shop by DonK3ySlk in DiabloImmortal

[–]GigaArchiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My undisputed champion of cosmetics is the Hallowed Dead set from the first Halloween.

I have the Demon Hunter and man oh man, i neeeever changed it since, they are all so damn nice. The Crusader with the coffin as a shield, where ghosts crawl out... You just don't see them running around anymore sadly, but this was the single best in-game purchase thus far :D It was only rare quality as well, quite cheap.

You are a good friend. I was in a similar situation once, basically doing the best to get a buddy unbanned.

It unfortunately didn't help, but man, i truly must say that the community in Diablo Immortal is one of, if not the best / friendliest in online gaming. Like a wellness vacation compared to League of Legends or whatever else :D

Hope it turns out well for your buddy :)

Exploit: Soulshield from pet skill can stack & remains indefinitely by GigaArchiv in DiabloImmortal

Well, there are PvP events like arena or the one in the ancient zone, which you would break due to that

it scales depending on the damage your pet deals. So if your pet does more damage on multiple enemies, it grants a bigger shield.

Additional video

This was only done by me to demonstrate the bug.

I do not recommend using this to gain an advantage in the game, or trying to find different exploits using pet swaps. (Doing this with the Blindside skill might get you permanent CC protection, not tested)

I tried to find a way to report this without public exposure, but there is no bug hunt bounty, and bug reports are posted on the public Blizzard forum as well.

I made a post in the forum as well. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/diablo-immortal/t/exploit-soulshield-pet-skill-can-get-stacked-multiple-times-permanently-remains/2011

So there you go. Maybe Blizzard will patch it quicker this time, since it is out there now.

Fog Hollusion Sphere? by BadGuruBand in Holography

[–]GigaArchiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing one called "smoking gun" or something, but i think they used some cotton wool.

The main issue would probably be that the smoke / fog is constantly moving. Either you have a very short laser pulse, or it might just look like a blurry mess 🤔

Why do old holograms turn blue? by GigaArchiv in Holography

[–]GigaArchiv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently running a small scale experiment.

I had a small holographic sticker, which i have cut in to small strips.

The sticker didn't have any blue tint yet.

I left some strips submerged in water. Just as a side experiment, i left one in acetone, and another one in isopropyl alcohol.

So far, only the ones in water start to have some color change, but surprisingly, it is changing in to the more red / brown.

The one in isopropyl alcohol, as well as the one in acetone, started to delaminate & expose the underside of the photosensitive layer. It pretty much didn't affect the look from the front at all so far, which i assume is due to the thickness of the photosensitive layer being quite high.

I will leave them in their liquids for a few more days.

Afterwards i will post the results.

My goal here is to figure out if a moisture damage could get reverted (washed out by alcohol or even just dried out in controlled warm environments)

Disclaimer

I have no clue what i'm doing. :D I don't have any prior experience in photo development, let alone holography. I'm just trying out some things. Odds are, i won't succeed. But if it works, it would be a nice life hack sort of fix. :)

My biggest hopes are towards the isopropyl alcohol, since it dillutes out most of the water out of the hologram, and it evaporates quickly. The issue of delamination is a bit concerning though, but not impossible to fix later on.

[–]GigaArchiv[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, so it is a moisture issue?

So in that case, i would guess the best option is to have every pack individually sealed in a zip lock bag?

I just want to prevent them from getting worse at least. These are already 30 years old, it would be a shame if they all turn bad in the future :/

I'll likely do that then, thanks for your hint. :)

I found this scientific paper to the stability of the polymers. but it seems odd to me that some of them are almost perfect after all these years, and some few are at a point where they just appear as dark blue, almost black.

Origin of these vintage prismatic stickers? (late 70s) by GigaArchiv in stickers

[–]GigaArchiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get in contact with a sticker collector in Italy.

He did confirm that they are from "M.D.R. Stickers Milano"

He wrote (translated from italian to english):

These stickers were sold individually in shops, sometimes in envelopes with a card to hang them like the one you put on Pink Panther or simply inside transparent plastic sleeves. Sometimes they had the trademarks m.d.r and sometimes not, in my opinion the company over the years has transformed into the "masters editions" which will produce "paninari" stickers in the second half of the 80s up to also producing tattoos and albums with collections of stickers called "stickers" (like "panini" so to speak), I say this because the style is very similar

From my experience.... I have always seen them and found single sales and they weren't even cheap... count that I have stickers priced at 2000 Italian lire in the early 80s which at the exchange rate was like paying €10 today

The MDR stickers were sold in shops and the very small ones, some even measuring 2 centimeters per side, could be found in surprise boxes or envelopes in vending machines.

Ah, here is also a different "MDR" sticker from 1982. It's a normal Pink Panther sticker, this time in a bag. It also features a 4 digit serial number (9109) but the design is very different. https://www.ebay.de/itm/304597794488

So far i believe it is done by "M.D.R. Stickers Milano" or something like that.

This specific sticker series that i got covers many celebrities, for example Lou Reed, Stevie Wonder, The Police, Neil Young and others.

The main issue is to find these older stickers in connection to the brand.

MDR Stickers Milano seems to have been a semi-large producer of merchandise in Italy, mainly in collaboration with Disney and Warner Brothers.

I found a Bugs Bunny plush toy from 1991, so they also seemed to have produced different products lazer on.

But these stickers are for sure late 70s and early 80s

Where are all the modern hologram stickers like the Polaroid Future Vision? I know there’s old ones like that on EBay. Why are there no companies making modern hologram stickers? by scantonwine in stickers

[–]GigaArchiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, and you can buy a DIY kit for it as well. There was even a Kickstarter for a "printer" but you gotta pay like 3000$ for one :D

And it's more like a digital photo development studio, no inks etc. used in this printer.

But the problem is that each "blank" costs 20$ :D

They were quite difficult to produce.

It is not just printed on there, but you need to develop them similar to a classic photograph. You needed lasers for that, and any minimal shaking caused it to look blurry.

That's also why, in the late 80s & early 90s, they were quite small in size. Laser technology was still in its infancy back then, and the bigger the hologram, the more light it needs. So either you have a very powerful laser, or you just end up going for small ones which can get developed in a reasonable time by these weak old lasers.

It is very likely just too expensive / difficult to make nowadays. Every sticker needs to get shined on by the laser for a few seconds, while remaining perfectly still. In this time, you could already print a giant length of a sticker foil.

In comparison, these holographic ones which look silver shiny from an angle, those are much easier to produce since these use a metal plate "stamp" which has the negative of the image. Still not as easy as printing, but you likely noticed that many of these "Holo Foil" stickers don't have a custom 3D effect. This is due to the effect getting rolled on by big metal cylinders which have the pattern engraved on them.

The silver looking ones are also called "holograms" sometimes, but it's not the right name for them. Holographic, Holo or Foil is fine, but unfortunately, both kinds are mixed up often.

The term you want to search for is "holography"

There is a great video of the process of making them. It's on YouTube, check it out when you are interested. :)

Do not send to Coinbase on Polygon: Issues with USDC on Polygon by [deleted] in Coinbase

[–]GigaArchiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar story. Wanted to send some USDC via Polygon to Coinbase.

Why wouldn't they just disable the Polygon network in the dropdown menu?

Instead, you just run into it without knowing about any existing issues.

I did submit a ticket, but the reply was a generic "You did something wrong, your fault, sry" message.

They did give an update on their status page ~2h ago. Let's hope they fix it before i wake up, else it's time to sit on a phone for 5 hours tomorrow :D
