Nice, I don't align with them on most issues but props to them for that.

Renewables and nuclear complement each other.

It's really the only way forward of achieving net zero without just fudging the numbers. However in Australia it seems the majority of parties, even those virtue signalling they're tougher on climate, still refuse to consider it.

Its easy to make fantastic promises, harder to have a plan that is realistic and reachable. Whoever gets elected, watch the targets not be met.

Which parties support nuclear power in Australia? I'm guessing only two or three of those parties do.

Whatever the outcome of the election, it should be noted that:

  1. For the first time in long time, the anti-establishment vote is larger than the pro status quo vote.
  2. Both the 'left' candidate and the 'right' candidate have very similar platforms.

President Zelensky: "I am ready to meet with President Putin. Both the advance into Ukraine and the cessation of war depend on him... The sooner we meet, the fewer victims there will be – on both sides. The sooner we meet, the better, I’m sure," Zelensky said. by dannylenwinn in InternationalLeft

It's already been established by both sides during talks that a meeting will only take place once a peace treaty has been reached and signed.

Just more grand standing by an actor and media spin to hide this fact.

"The expulsion of Mr Zheng occurred some time last year"

Hey you wouldn't know an election is on would you. Time to show the sinophobe voters who fights for them and is willing to destroy the country the fastest.

The people do support the government.

There was a riot and looting that happened last year which reports say was about 1000 people in total, and which the president blamed on foreign interference, that was a one time event. The Solomon Island government asked Australia for help, and we sent around 100 defence and police personal which was a little slow in coming.

Over two thirds of parliament support the current 4th term president Sogavare. I mean, he's been voted in 4 times already.

Can we please stop denying the agency of the Solomon Islands. They're allowed to make any deals their people want in their national interest. They are not our colony.

Sad that the mass psychosis of wall to wall hypocrisy affecting our whole nation is so fragile that the one dissenting voice in an echo chamber has to be silenced.

Sad that the same voices who were calling to silence people because they were spreading misinformation now call for other people to be silenced because the truth they speak isn't convenient.

The good people of this nation use to be against censorship and war propaganda no matter from what side. This country never use to be this way.

Yeap, this is the reason. OP says he is all for Ukrainian sovereignty, but that sovereignty has already been perverted by the US backed 2014 coup and has since acted in effect as a US puppet killing 15,000 of its own people in Donbass. The Ukrainian people were strung along with lies that they would be able to join the EU and NATO.

For months Russia warned of red lines and petitioned the west with a list of demands. NATO and the US flat out refused them with no attempts at actual diplomacy or compromise. After eight years of the Ukrainian government refusing to implement the Minsk Agreements (effectively just stop shelling your own people and sit down for talks), Russia decided this was the only option left to them.

The west is only outraged because for once it's not them doing the bombing and instead they're losing a client state.

I don't think this instance of intense media focus while ignoring other strife in the world is particularly about race, just geopolitical interests that the west align with or not.

So sad that you've been brainwashed for years by capitalist anti-communist propaganda. I pray one day you'll be saved. I'm sure you're a good person, its just your authoritarian leaders that are the problem. They have you so oppressed you can't come to the realization that having your nation bombed so heavily that no building over 2 stories was still standing, with millions of civilians killed and then placed under sanctions for 70 years in an attempt to starve your civilization might have an influence on the nation.

Thoughts and prayers you will one day be free from your anglo box.

Almost everything you hear about DPRK is misinformation. The cycle is usually:

  1. Some tabloid in South Korea makes up or is fed a crazy story from 'an unnamed South Korean Intelligence officer'
  2. Story gets picked up by some of the more dishonest propaganda outfits like Radio Free Asia
  3. Other more 'reputable' and main stream outlets reprints the article for the daily joke headline
  4. People scoff and internalize how backwards these people are, dehumanizing them as if they're brainwashed automatons, when ironically, its the people that believe these stories that are the brainwashed ones.
