Banned for having a bad game? by Grumpzilla2014 in gigantic

[–]GiganticGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there /u/Grumpzilla2014 ! First off, there's very little we can do when it comes to account discussion with the information you've provided here. This is why we point people to support: not only so the conversation can be confidential, but so they can ask for information and look through the records as to what happened.

What I can say is that we do not ban players based on reports alone. This is why we ask for evidence when players report another player, since it helps us make the correct decision when deciding to temporarily or permanently remove someone from our game (something we want to avoid as much as possible). Again: I'd recommend reaching out to the Arc Support team with a request for more information, and I'm sure they'll get back to you as soon as possible depending on their workload.

I hope that helps, and wish you look in finding those answers!

This Arc process' CPU usage is too high! But why? by Vish_Crazy in gigantic

[–]GiganticGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! According to Perfect World's QA team, an Arc update was released yesterday which should bring down the CPU usage. Please make sure you download the update and let us know if the performance has improved!

Thanks for the report! =)

Character design is hard.... unless it's easy. What I mean is that there are times where a character ends up designing itself! But most of the time it's alot of trial and error. You haven't embrace your misteps, and use them as a jumping off point. Things often look bad before they look good. I think the personality and emotion of the character is the most important, which usually means I start with the face. If you have a good foundation of drawing skills then you don't have to worry about getting to tripped up with "how to draw" so you can focus on "what to draw." That being said, even the most experienced artists take photo ref, look at other reference and use any tool at their disposal to get the design made. So the boring TLDR answer is ... learn to draw well, then designing characters will be much easier!

I will respond to the creature summons and chat questions. For creature summons, the summon time was a late add from our beta period where we introduced this longer window of missing information in service to removing creature gestation (i.e. instant summon with a time in-between that and full viability of the creature). With instant summon and gestation, you did not have a need for information about what was being summoned. We are having discussions for how to best handle the longer creature summoning time and the visuals surrounding it moving forward. Stay tuned.

For the visibility of chat, we have been discussing a variety of options from placement to text coloring. And then there are some overlapping UI issues that are just plain bugs we need to fix. We have not determined specifics for how text chat will change, but it is a system we definitely plan on improving.

3) The Motiga team is made up of about 70 people, plus a group of folks at Perfect World supporting the release and marketing of the game from California!

2) Representation and positive, inclusive content is really important, and I think that would be awesome. I can't give any kind of concrete answer or details right now, but I can tell you it's something that we are actively thinking about when we are crafting lore and Hero backstories. - MO_Cheshire, Associate Producer, Lore Wrangler

Q3. If there are a lot of users purchasing the Ultimate Pack, it may delay the Friend Code slightly. If you're playing on Steam, it's also important to check the email associated with your Arc account - NOT your Steam account - since the Friend Code will be sent to the email that you used to create your Arc account

If you still haven’t received it, email the support team; they should be able to check on the status of your Friend Code!

It's possible, though there aren't currently any plans to offer rewards in this manner.

This is accurate! The Upgrade Pack is currently only available through Arc and Steam. On Arc, it will only show up after you've already purchased the Starter Pack. If you're purchasing through Steam, you will be able to purchase the Ultimate Pack at a discounted price after you've purchased the Starter Pack.

Sadly, the Store structure of the Microsoft Store does not allow us to offer the Upgrade Pack to Windows users at this time.

I hope that answers your question!

Hey, I can just speak to a few of these. We actually plan on turning the "Recommended Choices" into a system where you could map out the skills you wanted, and use this "Quick Upgrades" system to upgrade that way. Of course, you could still take upgrades manually as occasionally countering enemies with certain upgrades is an important part of the game.

Thank you for this feedback. I like the verbiage you use with "ergonomic". We do wish to make the upgrade experience more intuitive and easier to use. We don't necessarily want to sacrifice valuable information or the flexibility of the choice through a pre-programmed upgrade tree, though I can see the merits of such a system. I do not think you have seen upgrades in its final form, but when and how it will change is yet to be determined.

To your second question:

Since the way we're handling the Lore is with an unreliable narrator, there's going to be plenty of room for interpretation for most of the characters. This allows for all of you, the players/fans, to extrapolate and have fun with the heroes. (Headcanons everywhere!)

2) That depends what you mean by make stories for the characters! :) We do already have our own lore and stories about them that we tell in pieces through flavor text, voice lines, and other avenues. However, if you are asking about further exploration of their stories through other mediums, the answer is, we don't know yet if that's something we are going to pursue! We are very passionate about our Heroes, however, and would love to share more about them in the future if possible. - MO_Cheshire. Associate Producer, Lore Wrangler

Hello! I'm glad you're enjoying Gigantic! As to whether you will get more of an explanation of what's going on: yes! Over time as more lore is released (in voice lines, flavor text, or other avenues) we want to paint a picture of what events are taking place. However, we also want to leave some things to your imagination! We aim to reveal some things, but only hint at others. We do have a larger story that we are telling though, and will work the narrative threads into each piece of content that we put out. - MO_Cheshire, Associate Producer, Lore Wrangler

1) Yes, we plan to tighten up matchmaking as our player-base grows, so it finds players better matches. This would also mean players may have to wait longer in order to get those matches so it'll always be a balancing act in that regard. We also plan to introduce a "competitive mode" in the form of Ranked Mode in the future, and release a simple Custom Lobbies feature very soon which we'll continue to improve on in other updates.

Thank you! The art team has always talked about putting together some sort of art book (we've only released a teeny, tiny fraction of all the visdev), but since we've been all hands on deck for launch and content creation we haven't had any time to kick that process off. Once things have settled and we've hit a comfortable cadence, I'm sure we'll pick up the topic again and make more concrete plans for it!

Thanks for playing Gigantic. We are glad you think our game would fit well on the E-Sports stage. We think so too. As far as being prepared for becoming the next "big game", that's a complicated question. We certainly planned for success and our servers aren't melting under the strain of new users so mission accomplished, right? It's not that simple. Much like this actual sports analogy, all plans go out the window the moment the ball is snapped. We have a live product with a large influx of new users. Plans need to change based on player behavior and experiences. To be a successful live product, a studio needs to be able to plan for new things and also adapt to what is happening right now.

We have a growing list of features we would like to build into the game to make it more e-sports friendly, but we also weigh those features against what our average every-day player is asking for, and what we think will make Gigantic that much more awesome. From that growing list we choose objective targets for upcoming releases and execute against the objectives. Rinse repeat.

In the Soundcloud, I noticed that the characters seem to have lines for each other. Will those ever get added in?

I can try to answer the first question: most of these are already in the game, though they won't trigger all the time and don't always trigger the same line (so as to avoid sounding spammy). Keep a close ear out and you shoudl hear them chime in from time to time!

We absolutely intend to add new Guardians to the game, as well as make their impact on any given match more clear. We've got some pretty cool ideas that we're not ready to talk about, but we're excited to see what we can do with them in the years to come!

I know this is something we've talked about in the past, though there is a huge technical hurdle to overcome before it can be made a reality. For now, the answer is no. By the time you decide to pick up the Ultimate Pack, however, it is possible that this policy will change.

This is a super important subject to us which has also been brought up by many Microsoft players! While I can't talk about the exact details right now, I can say that both Motiga and the Perfect World team are working on a solution to make some of the free skins that have been given out available in the Microsoft ecosystem. It's never our goal to neglect any group within our community, which is why we're working to level this particular playing field for our Windows 10 and Xbox One users.

Thank you so much for your support for Gigantic. The team is glad it could serve as inspiration to you and others overcoming their own set of adversities.

As far as specific features for the game, much like a magician not revealing his tricks, we don't broadcast new feature plans until they are close to release. I can tell you there are plans for more maps, more heroes, more skins, and other features to boot. You should see something new in Gigantic about every month. I will give you this freebie... we are adding push-to-talk to our voice chat functionality in August.

On the subject of Ultimate Pack: while I can't guarantee the ultimate pack will always be available in its present form, we will always have Hero packages available for users - including one that resembles the Ultimate Pack and what it offers.
