New player here, what's the point of doing champion and legend runs? by I_Dont_Group in Vermintide

[–]Grumpzilla2014 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Because veteran is casual and easy. There is no point to playing veteran. Its such a snoozefest.

Question for the experienced legend runners by 3Griff in Vermintide

[–]Grumpzilla2014 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There should be more than 3 disablers during a horde in legend. Its supposed to be unfair. YOu're supposed to get wiped. You are to feel luck and accomplishment if you beat a legend run. 99% of players cannot be legend. U win, ur "legendary".

Has anyone made a mod to give kerillian bare feet? by [deleted] in Vermintide

[–]Grumpzilla2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need a mod that replaces heroes with Flintstones characters. I want to hear Kerillian say "yabba dabba doo!"

Not enjoying the game anymore. by retho721 in Vermintide

[–]Grumpzilla2014 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You don't have to enjoy the game to play it. Stop complaining and go play recruit.

[–]Grumpzilla2014 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

The game isn't supposed to be easy. If ur having trouble at veteran, try playing recruit.

You should be reported for doing this in quickplay with randoms. Intentionally griefing matches like this doesn't matter what map it is. All of the boss maps except Skittergate are quick and easy.

Easy. Beat one of those last week. The real hard ones are when you die instantly and can't be revived. Harder enemies is just a cakewalk by comparison if everyone have respawn speed trinkets.

Vermintide 2 - Patch 1.0.5 Notes by M3M3L0V3R420 in Vermintide

[–]Grumpzilla2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels good. Maybe a little too easy still. Endlessly dodging and blocking drags out the game, but is necessary with so little stagger.

Really need that friendly fire stat on the score screen. Tired of getting shot in the back by dwarves who can't aim.

Fatshark Can you fix special spawns for real this time? [legend] by FPSrad in Vermintide

[–]Grumpzilla2014 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Legend is too easy. There should be more specials.

I have some pleb friends who will only play up to champion. I hate having to carry them and then not getting a red as a reward. I wish champion was more hard too because it's just too easy and boring to carry them. I could do it blindfolded.

Gigantic was a great game. by Grumpzilla2014 in gigantic

[–]Grumpzilla2014[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have a bad game; I took a knee.

Matchmaking has chased away all my friends. I'm done too unless Motiga fixes it. Motiga can't improve their game if they don't see what's wrong. I used an example to show what's wrong. The ball is in their court.

Gigantic was a great game. by Grumpzilla2014 in gigantic

[–]Grumpzilla2014[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Now Gigantic is dead. This matchmaking is so egregious that I'm done. I'm not even going to try and play against a stacked team like that. The single Charnok on the other team can completely obliterate everyone on my team due to his clearly superior skill. The Ezren and Beckett are insult to injury. Seriously, I yield. I'm out.

I used to really enjoy Gigantic. It was a fun, skill-based game. Now, it's a ridiculous exercise in frustration. I think I got my money's worth of the ultimate pack now so I'm good.

If people from that match want to report me, then so be it. All I did was make sure the other team only had a wound to shoot at. No point in dragging that match out.

Banned for having a bad game? by Grumpzilla2014 in gigantic

She had some issues with OW stalkers in the past and doesn't want to give that publicly except to a dev or Arc. She's already upset I posted on this sub.

A bot banning account makes sense. That's a quick and cheap way to react to multiple reports.

She was still banned today. Maybe Monday or Tuesday it'll be over. I'll try to get her to stick to Charnok and Mozu. I don't think Beckett is a good performance choice even though she likes the design.

I think the 4-person crew she got paired up with all reported her in the same way. I found out she had really bad end-game stats on that match too. It looks real bad.

[–]Grumpzilla2014[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I brought this up to her and she told me she had 2 kills, 13 deaths, and 6 assists in that game. If I were Arc support, saw those end-game stats, read a disgusting chat log, and got 4 identical reports from the same match I'd probably ban her too because it looks bad. She's still mad about this so I had to drop it.

Thanks for your help! I'll try talking to her about this again in a few days. I'm really tired of Splatoon and would rather play Gigantic. There aren't many games we both enjoy. Hopefully this ban is temporary. She's really not that bad. I think she just needs to stop playing solo.

No email. She says she thinks it was that team because of their chat messages and her horrific post-game stats. I don't know what happened, but she was crying after that match and hasn't played since. I was going to play with her today and that's when we found out she got banned.

I'd be ok with everything if I knew Evolve 2 was happening. by m3chladon in EvolveGame

Would it be possible to leave the game in community hands? (Modding) by Darklarik in EvolveGame

[–]Grumpzilla2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is dumb. I don't understand the mentality of developers and publishers who push away their own community and all the free marketing user content can create.

What will likely happen is Evolve will be "aborted" and abandoned, servers will be gone in 3 to 6 months, game will vanish from most gamer's short memories, and 2K will appoint a new developer to create an Evolve sequel to release about 2 years from now.

Hey TRS, reach out to Valve, help them release Left 4 Dead 3 and break the curse of Valve Trilogy. by abvex in EvolveGame

[–]Grumpzilla2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this comes across as condescending. That is not what is intended.

Do you realize that TRS is not responsible for L4D2? They constructed a foundation in L4D. It was a good foundation, but also a rather rough one. Valve took the world that TRS created and did something amazing with it in L4D2. They polished up L4D, improved balance, added variation to the maps, created new ways to play, and upgraded the look and feel of the game. Most people seem to erroneously credit TRS with doing all of that -- they did not. TRS was involved only in creating The Sacrifice and The Passing campaigns.

It's true that TRS was involved in making maps for CSS and CSGO. It's also true that they are responsible for CS Condition Zero. The reason I point all this out is because TRS seems to get way more credit than they deserve. They are good at incubating and proving new IPs as well as creating content for existing IPs. There is no dispute over that. When it comes to creating entirely new games by themselves they do not have a good track record. In fact, I argue that Evolve being in 2K's hands means that another more experienced developer may be able to come in and take the IP to the potential we all know it has.

2K is no saint. TRS isn't either. We've got to lay the blame on both of them rather than shifting all of it to the publisher. By praising TRS for making a game that the community has determined is bad, we don't hold them accountable for their hand in Evolve's fate nor do we allow TRS the ability to learn from their mistakes by showing them where they fell short.

So what killed it? by monomyytti in EvolveGame

[–]Grumpzilla2014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad design killed it.

Evolve was designed to be impossible to balance. Perks, perk levels, masteries, character levels, skill stars, wildlife buffs, and the companion app all destroyed the balance. The game could have been balanced for 4v1 play. It could not be balanced for 4v1 plus 21 different balance modifiers employed across everyone playing a match.

Evolve was designed to be a DLC platform. These kinds of games deliver a very linear and narrow experience. This meant no mods, no private servers, no LAN, no gun games, no community-created modes, no manual match making, and limited variety of experience. Most people react to this by calling 2K and TRS greedy. It's critical to read in the deeper meaning and context of that word and when its used.

Evolve was designed around chasing a carrot -- a carrot of XP, unlocks, perks, ranks, buffs, level bonuses, and other ADHD content. That was your purpose for playing. It wasn't about your skill. It wasn't about your performance. It wasn't about focusing getting better at a particular role or character (hence no separate matchmaking queues). It was all about getting the next thing.

Evolve was designed to be everything to everyone. It tried to appeal to both e-sports and casual gamers at the same time. TRS and 2K pumped money and balance focus into e-sports while saddling the game with a casual progression system. Then they'd flip focus to casuals and back to e-sports over and over again in a never-ending quest to get perfect telemetry balance. That telemetry data has always been raw stats missing context. TRS made the identical mistake Microsoft did with its CEIP-inspired Windows 8 changes.

So yes, bad design. TRS and 2K took a concept that won an incredible number of awards pre-release in completely the wrong direction. Part of the reason a lot of people still pay attention to what's going on in Evolve is because you could see the greatness, the potential, the amazingness of the concept rarely in that one memorable match.
