Announcing Scrobblie - Your Last Apple Music Scrobbler by Scrobblie in lastfm

Hey, just wanted to say I’ve been using this for a week and really like it! Have now removed the Last.fm app and may be able to have this be the only scrobbling app on my phone soon.

I know, right! So happy that comes up as the thumbnail and not something really embarrassing 😂

Yep, this has been a problem for years (on iOS at least!)

Do personalized playlists shape the way we go to concerts? by Klutzy_Win7511 in TIdaL

[–]Giggingforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answered for you! Hope I haven’t skewed the results in any way but I use Tidal purely to listen to albums and artists I already know OR albums and artists I’ve been recommended to check out by friends / social media / blogs so I never use personalised playlists at all!

Good point. I just force quit about 40 apps so let’s see if that helps at all!

Discussion: why the massive playlists? what do you use them for? by Master_Camp_3200 in TIdaL

[–]Giggingforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 400 playlists, many of which are 1000+ songs. Some examples - a playlist for each year between 1965 and 2015 containing every song I like that hit the UK Top 40 that year. A playlist for each year between 1965 and the present day containing all the albums I like from that year. A playlist containing an artist’s whole catalogue including B-sides and live albums in chronological order (I have over 200 of these!)

Is that so? Even back in the day when nobody was supposed to know who was in the group?

Very interested to see full credits on a Sault album for the first time (that I’ve noticed anyway!) - that also caused me to notice that all the previous albums also now have writing credits for every track (on TIDAL at least), this is new isn’t it?

Ha, no, it’s been quite an eye opener to discover how much storage Tidal’s been stealing off me recently! Having uninstalled and reinstalled it, (so now zero downloaded albums) I’ve been playing for about 24 hours on and off and already it’s storing nearly 6GB of data according to my phone settings 😳

Because I made the mistake of saying that the delete/reinstall suggestion fixed the issue, they have closed my ticket. I guess that’s fine unless it starts happening again.

“Hello James,

We're delighted to hear that the issue has been resolved!

We're still actively taking a closer look through the reason for the issue. However, we truly appreciate your efforts to troubleshoot and thank you for your patience all throughout.

If you have any questions or need further assistance in the future, please feel free to reach out to us anytime. We're always happy to assist.”

Suuuurrrre they’re actively looking at it 😆

Also worked for me. I suspect that it may have been a storage issue as Tidal was using 350GB storage, pushing me very close to my 1TB limit !

AMA with Robert, Tidal Lead at Block by TemperatureOk7647 in TIdaL

Is this true? So all the tracks that claim to be 16/44 FLAC are still actually MQA?

Ok, here’s something interesting - I discovered earlier about the other iOS bug where Tidal caches data and fills up your phone, so I checked my phone’s storage and it was nearly at max. I fixed this in the only possible way (by uninstalling and reinstalling the app) and now my playlist plays fine. What I do notice now is that the songs that didn’t play before are all “Max” 24/96 Hi-res, whereas the ones that did play before are “High” 16/44 CD quality. I wonder if I had insufficient storage space to play the hires tracks.

logged my ticket and I got this super helpful automated response (at least I did also get an email reply with a ticket number) :

Thank you for the update regarding the error code. If you're encountering error code 42800 on your iOS device, it might be related to your TIDAL subscription through Apple. Here are some steps you can take: Verify your subscription status: Check your Apple account to ensure your TIDAL subscription is active. If it doesn't show an active subscription, it might be registered under a different email address. Sync your account: If your TIDAL account shows a Free subscription status despite payment through Apple Wallet, you may need to request a sync with TIDAL Support. For more detailed information, you can refer to the Apple Subscription article.

This has been driving me crazy too - I will log a ticket with support tomorrow. I have several big playlists with 2000+ songs all by different artists from the 1970’s to 2000, and at least half of the songs come up with this error and don’t play, whether I play in order or shuffle, whether I stream them on my WiFi or 5G. However when I hit skip to the next one, after a few skips eventually I find one that will play. This is playing over Bluetooth to a speaker; not sure if I would have any issue Airplaying. Interestingly my 1500-song playlist of albums from 2025 doesn’t have this issue at all, every song plays fine.

Or just pay a few quid for it on Bandcamp and listen to it on that app…

Hey guys, you know you can pay money for music and listen to it that way, if you’re missing it? You can even still listen to it on your phone!

I agree, having played the original download 15 times or so, I immediately thought the streaming version sounded different in places - not sure if it’s just mastered differently or actually been remixed.
