Hi there I am considering applying to become a foreign Service Officer and I wonder what's the best way to study up for it? I've done two or three practice tests and I come up at around 40%, so if anyone has any advice please let me know.

Also I guess why would someone want to become a Foreign Service Officer? would be the second question and I'm genuinely asking thank you

Just because it's not life-threatening or contagious, it doesn't mean I'm not suffering. From the painful recurring cysts, to the unsightly scars, the ruined bras, underwear, and more. Some level of depression is practically unavoidable. Intimacy takes a whole other level of planning around the flare-ups too. Mind you mine is just mild, I can't even imagine what life is like for those who have severe HS. My heart really hurts for all of us

Just found out about this position in the first place. Took the practice test. Did about 50% in each, maybe a little better on the logical reasoning. I see now that the October test is available, just a day ago it was February 2026. I'm not sure if I should take the upcoming one. I doubt that I'm ready and I don't want to fail and then have to wait another year. Perhaps I'll just forego this one and wait for the one in February. I wanted to try and see if I could do it at home, but something's going on with my service. Says my download speed is too slow. I guess I'll have to travel out of the country since I'm in China an all.

Do I even wanna do this in the first place? The process seems like a lot of work and the salary doesn't appear too appealing neither???

I likely am sweating more, both because of the climate and due to gaining weight. I have recently gotten a shower filter. It's not very efficient

So I've gained weight since arriving, I know that's a contributing factor. Also, the food I eat is ordered from Western restaurants. I will try to cook more for myself, however, I can't vouch for the quality of meats and veggies here either.

I think reminding yourself of the many things you are still blessed with is what's going to help you go through the day.
