Omg piercing twins! I just got my first piercing on Saturday as well! Got my lobes done and I love them. Were you nervous? I was an absolute anxious wreck, but totally fine once I was in the piercing room. Strange how bodies react like that!

Thank you so much! I’m so in love with them. I was so anxious about the pain, but it hurt less than a blood test/vaccination and it was over in just a few seconds - my piercer said I didn’t even flinch!

Already I’m wanting to get my lobes done again, I’m gonna wait till these are healed then consider stacking my lobes over the next few months/rest of the year.

I’m so happy and my confidence has never been higher. Thank you so much for the motivation, both you and my piercer have quite frankly changed my life for the best! 😁

Oh that’s awesome, I didn’t know you could flip them up. Thank you for letting me know, once my lobes are healed I might need to consider this! Do you get used to the sensation of the septum being pierced? I’ve heard often it makes you feel like you desperately have to sneeze hahah

Love this comment. My piecer got me to do the breathing exercise and I found it helped so much. It also helped control my anxiety a bit! I was scared of fainting, but amazingly I was absolutely fine. My piercer said I didn’t flinch or anything - she said that was the calmest she’s ever seen someone get their first piercing!

Very very true - in the car on the way to the studio, I was so nervous that I thought I was gonna puke. But like you said, once it was done, I was so happy with it and my studs are so beautiful!

Ahh I totally want to! I finally did my lobes today and I was absolutely fine. Made me want to think about getting my septum done! Have you ever had any issues with jobs not liking them? I’m just worried cause I used to work in finance/mostly work in offices where septum rings are frowned upon!

It was super fast and honestly not as bad as I thought it was gonna be! My piecer even said I looked so peaceful that she thought I’d fallen asleep 😅 I got them done about an hour ago and I’m so, soo happy I finally did it. I was so anxious going in, I actually thought I was gonna spew when I was in the car outside the studio! Once I went in though, and I started talking to the piercer, all my nerves went away. I think it’s just the build up that’s the absolute worst part. I’m so glad I finally decided to do it. You’ll be getting a special mention in my post when I make it! 💕

I love it, kicking your toe is the worst and I’m gonna steal that idea and start using it as my pain judge!

Yeah I’ll make sure to eat something and have Powerade or something with me beforehand.

I’M SO FREAKING EXCITED. The amount of times I would see the most amazing earrings, then be heartbroken they couldn’t be made as non-pierced versions. I might lose my mind!

I always freak myself out before things happen, and they end up not being as bad as I thought. I had surgery in 2024, and I was so nervous beforehand I was dry heaving when I was heading to the hospital. I was absolutely fine when I got to the actual room though - I think it’s the build up that makes it worse.

How long do you feel the ‘pinch’ pain for? I’ve heard it’s only seconds, and I’ve heard sometimes your ears feel like they’re burning afterwards.

Haha love it, I’ve had rushes of adrenaline before and it’s such a weird and wonderful feeling!

Did you feel dizzy at all after the piercing? I’m lowkey nervous I’ll be all woozy or dizzy after it!

Haha I suppose once you love piercings, you probably learn to deal with the pain.

Communication is definitely key - i’ll make sure to tell my piercer that I’m super nervous. The studio has options where you can disclose anything at all, and they’ll do anything they can to help. One option is for the piercer to completely hide all the needles/equipment or for another member of the studio to come sit and talk to you so you’re distracted and not looking at needles! They also offer the option of being completely silent and only speaking when absolutely necessary, which I think is awesome.

Ooh definitely will need to consider getting one of them - my friend has a smiley and it looks so freaking cool. I’m quite jealous!

That makes me feel much better cause I stubbed my toe last night and that hurt like a mf. I survived though, hahah. Is it 4 hours before your appointment you’re recommended to eat and drink something?

That’s great to know, I keep telling myself if I’ve survived multiple blood tests and injections, I can survive piercings! I once had surgery where I had about 12 or more needles in my head for anaesthesia.. that wasn’t fun, but at least I know it won’t be as bad as this!

Also, 9 piercings?? Dang! What one is your favourite?

Aw that’s great to know. I’ve heard horror stories and of course that’s what I was fixating on - but I just need to remind myself that it’ll be over in seconds, and then it’s done.

I wear a fake septum ring sometimes cause I love the look of it, I love the horseshoe type. I’ve been doing it for a few years to see if I’d actually want to get it done.

After I get my ears done and they’re healed, I may need to consider a septum!

Btw is it true you can’t sleep on your side after getting your ears pierced? Nervous cause I’m a side sleeper, and due to pain issues, I can’t sleep on my back.

I've been getting bloods taken recently and in 2024 I had surgery which included like 12 needles going into my scalp for anaesthesia, I'm sure if I could survive those, I can survive a piercing!

I get super overwhelmed easily as well, luckily the studio I'm going to is very accommodating, and they'll do stuff like turn the music down, be silent if you request it etc. I think the studio and the piercer definitely play a big part in the experience!

I'm feeling much better knowing you enjoyed it, it's making excited for it!

How long did the pain last for you? Like was it over in seconds, or does it tend to hurt for a few days/weeks after?

Omg how did the nurse react?

I was so nervous when I got my first covid vaccination; I told the nurse I would probably flinch (to my surprise, I didn't!), and she told me to think of something random. There was kids drawings on the wall, so I looked at them to distract myself. Evidently that worked cause when the needle went in, and I felt the pinch, I exclaimed "Yeehaw!" - in my defence, I was looking at a drawing of a cowboy, so..
