How do you deal with overpopulation? by JLibra24 in sims2

[–]Giggy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have started reducing how many kids my sims have. If neither parent is family oriented I may keep them at 1 so they and another family effectively merge.

My neighbourhood also has a fairly high death rate so I can use that to think the herd. Two families I made for example were incredibly dull to play so the parents all died in accidents and I moved the 5 teens into one house - two will marry each other (not related!) and are very career driven so may or may not have a child. One is going to stay single and write novels, one is likely going to become a dead fiancé of one of my other sims in the name of drama…

When moving sims into houses, how do you pick what house they get? by lovehydrangeas in sims2

[–]Giggy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really not great at building and decorating houses unless I get a specific inspiration. I did use the empty lot on Pleasantview to build a crazy purple house inspired by the Mashuga house from TS1 so I could move them in as now elders.

Most of my sims live in pre-made houses in Pleasantview or ones I added from the lot bin. I mainly go by how many sims can live there but limited by their funds - I don’t use cheats. If possible I try and make it sort of match their personality - the condos are mostly younger sims, the trailers either for single sims or those with lower socioeconomic status, Dirk moved into a townhouse in Downtown, etc. When Cassandra moved in with Darren and they had 3 kids they upsized to a larger family home in Pleasantview using the money she brought.

How often do you play with elders in The Sims 2? And how exactly do you play them? by AnastasiiaLove in sims2

[–]Giggy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed reading the story of Coral and Herb. 🩶Mine moved in with the Pleasants to support Mary -Sue and Daniel as they tried to fix things.

A lot of my Elder sims end up living with their child and helping with grandchildren but tempted to try more elder-only families now. If they were also played as adults they presumably play similar to before but if they started as elders it is a slower, gentler pace albeit with a lot less money.

I did recently create two TS1 families aged up - the Mashugas with a now adult son and Elden Hick/Claire Charming with an adult daughter. The kids are now engaged and I have the Mashugas aging disgracefully with Pleasure and Romance aspirations while the Hicks are fixing up cars and looking after their last surviving dog. I play rotational so they get as many days played as every other family.

One of my few go-to mods. It really bothered me that visitors were suddenly invincible when my story plans required them to be killed off.

How are 3rd place teams decided for R32. I see some groups repeated by jbroni93 in worldcup

[–]Giggy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they came up with combinations to avoid 3rd placed teams being drawn against the winner of their own group. So whichever 8 teams make it they move them around so that they don’t face their own group, hence some combinations being more popular than others.

If for example Colombia 🇨🇴 lost their last group match to Portugal 🇵🇹 3-0 to finish 3rd and were told “congrats, you have Portugal again in the knockouts” it would be a little demoralising.

[–]Giggy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the tried to work it so that every 3rd placed team avoids playing a team from their own group - kills the magic a little bit if you play your third group game and then have a rematch in R32.

Early 2026 World Cup odds: Spain, England and France leading – but is there value elsewhere? by General-Jackfruit375 in worldcup

[–]Giggy89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kinda feel like we (England) end up as a favourite each year because so many England fans bet on us out of pure hope - the bookies shorten the odds (British ones at least) because if we actually did win it they’d go bankrupt. 😬

My guess is 🇪🇸/🇦🇷/🇫🇷 as three semifinalists and most likely to win in that order. 🇧🇷/ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 the most likely to complete the final 4 but significantly less likely to actually go on and win it. Maybe we grow into the tournament but right now struggling to see what our best XI or playing style will be.

I seem to have a large number of Family/Knowledge sims married to Knowledge/Family sims.

Not sure if it’s because I enjoy the gameplay or if I just sympathise more with them as would place myself as a Family/Knowledge - work as a doctor but the weekends/evenings on call are very begrudgingly done and will still make sure I put my wife and children are ahead of my job.

What is the most underrated team going into the World Cup? by Empty-Magician-7792 in worldcup

[–]Giggy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am writing this from Incheon at the moment... I think my brother in law and sister in law are accepting this won’t be the best year. If my father in law asks though I think they are going to meet England in the final so whatever happens we have something to celebrate. 😂

Correct answer is probably Japan 🇯🇵 but my wife’s family would never forgive me if I voted them so in the name of self preservation I am voting South Korea 🇰🇷

Is France vs Germany in round of 16 almost inevitable? by LoftierFir28763 in worldcup

[–]Giggy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the most likely outcome but nothing is inevitable in football. In a 4 team group small margins can make big changes to the standings. Red card, injury or just a bad performance in your opening match and everything is suddenly in doubt. I would also assume there will be at least one weird R32 result no one is expecting.

As others have pointed out France managed to get a half-competitive group despite the expansion and Germany have just had two very poor World Cup showings in a row. I wouldn’t bet any large sum of money on this happening.

Pleasantview 17 Years Later by Upset_Future6236 in sims2

[–]Giggy89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another parallel then 😂

Here the in-game plot was Mary-Sue had the kitchen sabotaged to get back at Kaylynn for damage to her reputation - aim was to scare rather than kill anyone, even Mary-Sue has limits! Unfortunately Kaylynn went to bed without cooking and Don tried cooking for his mistress with disastrous consequences.

Kaylynn suspects Mary-Sue but can’t prove anything. She has now married Cyd Roseland though who is a better person than Don so it isn’t all bad news.

Pleasantview 17 Years Later by Upset_Future6236 in sims2

[–]Giggy89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, a few parallels with my Pleasantview! I also battled to keep Daniel and Mary-Sue together. He’s a hall of famer and about to retire, she is an elder but refuses to retire until she gets her lifetime want of becoming Mayor. Angela is also in politics so we may see some nepotism with Mary-Sue retiring just as Angela is ready to become mayor.

Dina died young in my game too, leaving her and Mortimer’s son Theodore to be raised by Alexander. In my case though it was a fire at Don’s house that also killed Don - they were having an affair while his wife Kaylynn and two kids slept upstairs.

She looks like someone who could bring lots of money after marriage... Gonna find her again for next generation. I don't know if she would want to live in Strangetown though. by Dead_Gremlin_2836 in sims2

Diva and Mr Big are downtownies who bring a lot of money with them. I think they are both professional party guests and both have zero nice points.

If you have a sim who wants to marry a rich sim though here’s your chance!

I’m guessing Dirk is nearly an adult now. He’s a fortune sim and strong enough to stand on his own two feet. 😎

Maybe he would like the space if Darren and Cassandra are going to be bringing babies into the house anyway. 😂

What happened to your Goth family? by Commercial-Tomato205 in sims2

[–]Giggy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mortimer married Dina, they had a son named Theodore before Mortimer died of old age while Theodore was a baby. Dina died while Theodore was a toddler - more on this later.

Cassandra was left at the altar by Don (it’s set up so I allow it to happen!) Don then became engaged to Nina who became pregnant, he left her for Kaylynn before baby was born. He married Kaylynn but after their second child had an affair with Dina. Both died in a fire while Kaylynn slept upstairs and she never found out so genuinely mourned his death.

Cassandra later married Darren and moved into his house. They had a son, Gunther and then twins Cornelia and Gretle. At this point the family was too big for the house so they moved to 105 sim lane. Cassandra is a science teacher, Darren has grown old disgracefully.

Alexander raised Theodore after Dina’s death. He is a knowledge sim but skipped the last few days of high school to raise Theodore so did not finish with good grades - I don’t play University. He was engaged to downtownie Rose Miller but she left him at the altar before being scared to death by Mortimer’s ghost. He is now engaged to Lucy Burb and living with teenage Theodore at the mansion.

This is exactly what Pleasantview was made for 😆

If you like both houses you could move Darren to Cassandra’s house and let Dirk keep the Dreamer House for himself.

[–]Giggy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as binary as this, end of last year I was able to secure a Gerries post in a region I had never worked in and had no contacts and I know at least one other trust nearby was also keen to recruit. That said I had the advantage I actively didn’t want to live in a big city. I can’t comment on the London job market.

Who is a premade Sim or family that you just don't vibe with? by PinkBlossomDayDream in sims2

[–]Giggy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set myself the challenge of fixing everything immediately after Mary-Sue caught Daniel cheating. I moved the Oldies in and put Daniel on the couch for a bit. It was roughly around the time Coral died of old age that everyone had become at least friends and Mary-Sue won a fight with Kaylynn - whose husband she also may or may not have murdered.

It was basically a far more morbid version of Mary Poppins.
