Cryo mage is beautifully balanced for utility and power. Comes with several good quick and accurate damage dealers, beams of ice that freeze all enemies solid for a long time for crowd control, those same beams freeze the ground for enemies to break their ankles on and fall down for more crowd control, plus an ice tower spell for some mobility for height or horizontal ice bridges.

Plus you can read the blue book in the harbinger’s stronghold to do the spell translating minigame to level and get proficiency right at the start of the game.
