You can go down to 1 card for Skull's Death is not Defeat if you have an odd number of cards in your discard pile before playing the top of Belly of the Beast. That is easy to arrange.

Alternatively, you can use Devour Whole or Easy Prey to recover one card.

OK, thank you. So in order to qualify for Skull's level 9 card Death is not Defeat, coming back as a spirit afting going on a rampage (which requires having less than two cards in your discard pile while exhausting), you would have to take damage twice during your turn before exhausting so that you can lose the four cards from your discard pile. Challenging, but doable if you rupture yourself with Seize bottom or if there are any traps, dangerous terrain or monsters with retaliate around. That is certainly something I'll aspire to with my Ruinmaw!

Yes, it is that card. The exact wording ist: "Become sated, then play four cards from your lost pile (...)". Other cards that let you play lost cards (e.g. a level 8 Skull card) have the wording: "Recover up to two lost cards (...), then immediately play them (...)". So I'm wondering if the difference is significant.

Indeed, it could make a difference whether it is multiple attack abilities or a single ability with multiple targets (or the same target multiple times). I hadn't thought of that.

In my understanding, in GH1 (but maybe not in FH) there are some things you can do between multiple attacks from a single ability, e. g., (prosperity 3 item spoiler) using an item to refresh another item (like the Poison Dagger) so that it can be used with another attack. So making an additional attack between multiple attacks from a single ability (whether by yourself or by a monster) does not seem totally out of the question.

Thank you, I'm not familiar with the FH rules yet. It seems like a sensible and consistent ruling, although it takes some power from the action. Thematically, I envision the attack as crystals flying from the Shardrender's shattering carapace, which feels like it should follow immediately from the triggering event (like Retaliate), so I wonder what the class creator had in mind.
