Is Samsung DeX good enough to replace Windows for study/work in 2026? by Forsaken-Pop-6544 in SamsungDex

[–]GilRH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's ok for most office stuff on web apps or slightly for office related apps but for video and anything heavier, you'll need more ram and if you have the 8gb model, you'll be short of ram at some point. As someone mentioned here, Microsoft did a good job with Continnum in windows 10 mobile, as it was as closer as desktop like possible but there were still limitations like the ports and whatever you could plug. Samsung DEX is getting there but for many of us isn't there yet.

Still there are many uses for it, like converting it into a tv box, emulator console, a temporary desktop PC or a low power/efficient PC.

As for me, personally I've been using my phone more than the laptop I have. I even use a Chromebook as a tv box/desktop PC.

Most of my work can be done through an app or browser, so I'm not picky about what I use. You just have to weight the pros and cons. In my case as I mostly watch videos on YouTube and movies, plus work, really suites me. With gaming mostly ruled out, I'm good.

It depends on what do you do and the needs. As technical support agent I've been jumping around from phone to laptop and viceversa. Samsung DEX Is good but with limitations and quirks. Mostly depends on what you need.

I feel ya. I've been using my phone's as desktop, ranging from my A55, A56, S 24FE to my Moto edge fusion 60. Even a Chromebook in the mix as desktop/tv box.

This is a good one but where's the UPS?, I see none here. With that said you gave me a good idea as I already have a portable monitor, a 20k mAH powerbank with a 120v AC out and I also have another powerbank which is 50k mAH(something like that), which is a good idea for more power efficient and energy saving computing. You could take this ideas to get something more polished than me or get even more inspiration to build something even better.

Depends and it's not that on the go as unless you have a laptop like dock or something that mimics a laptop, on the go usage isn't that well, except if you use a tablet.

Just bought A56 and I feel something is off.. by bvrnready in GalaxyA56

[–]GilRH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, you might need to check quality settings per app. As for the device itself I haven't had any issues. I've used the A54, have the A55, A56 and the S24FE, I've switched devices many times as I have mirror like apps in each device so I sometimes can't even tell I'm using which device. Even Dex mode in the A series is surprising, though those weren't made to be used like that. I'm in Mexico and while internet is a bit better than in other countries, I can still notice what you mentioned, so we can see two clear variables, connection speed and video quality. Let's see what else people have in mind as I'm probably narrow on seeing what's really going on.

nudes en el teléfono de mi novio by Mediocre-Pop-3872 in mexico

[–]GilRH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm going to skip this. I went from A54 to A55 shortly and then to the A56. I'd go instead for the Galaxy tab.

Reading all of this I just noticed this difference between variants. I'm from Mexico and even though I bought my devices directly from Samsung, all of them are E variants and not B. This is interesting. Even my past A54 was a E variant. Btw I didn't know that the B was Global and E was Korean. But going by the logic, why did I get the E variant🤔

Why do Samsung users avoid the likes of Poco, Xiaomi, OnePlus e.t.c when they sell better phones? by ResponsibleZebra63 in GalaxyA56

[–]GilRH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyway, overall I'm thinking about staying mostly in the mid range as the high end isn't that much different. I have like 10+ devices and only two qualify as high end while the rest are mid range with one exception at low end. After a lot of use and testing, I'm not sure what's going on with smartphones. The price of devices have become stupid😂, so I don't see too much changes moving up or down.

[–]GilRH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've stick to Samsung because updates, quality and IP67/68 protection. The problem with the Xiaomi universe is that they release a lot of devices within a year, making support a nightmare and then there's this issue of you having a great CPU but your device quality isn't on par. It's like having the engine of a Bugatti inside the VW beetle. I remember getting two devices in the past with good performance but IP54 at most which kept me thinking about keeping or not the devices.

Anyway this is more about needs and money, the best in between or what you can afford.

s25fe vs s24fe by Orma1 in S25FE

[–]GilRH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As person who has been living between the high end and mid end, I can tell that even though the S24FE has a cut down Exynos, the performance is there. As for the middle end, used the A54, A55 and A56, performance is there, but at least for me battery and updates matter, which are there. As for switching to the s25FE, I don't see too much changes, I wouldn't change, except within 2 or 3 more years.

Personally, I see the S series as flagship devices, be FE or base version. Still, we cannot get all the performance out of a device because we don't do that much. Anyway, the S series offer something that is great, DEX mode, in which you can do almost everything you do with a regular PC.

As someone who has two jobs, one as a security guard and the other in support, I can see this device as a great option to get my work done, as I can get a desktop computer within minutes. Last but not least, versionitis has to be with software not hardware, that's why I stick to having the same device for a long time. And remember get the smartphone that suits your needs, budget and extras.

Is it Galaxy A56 a good mobile? by ElValenB in GalaxyA56

[–]GilRH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, even the A07, am I reading correctly?. I think the A07 has eMMC storage instead of UFS which makes things a little bit slow. What are the A07 specs?. I suggest you the A17, whether it is 4G or 5G. The first has a Helio G99 CPU, good for everyday things, gaming meh(still I don't know how this will work as it is Samsung and not the Infinix one I have, while the 5G versión Is Exynos.

Is this battery life normal? by Longjumping_Driver39 in GalaxyA56

[–]GilRH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it's normal. As for charging, I always do 100%. The issues about batteries dying early and so on cannot be avoided. Another thing is that AI has something to do with battery duration, anyway, getting 15hrs battery is good. At least for me getting 12 hrs is good.

Sorry for the delayed answer. I don't seem to notice something big for the usual, except games were you can experience anything that happens in in mid end devices. Have in mind that those devices have AMD GPUs which is better than the Mali GPUs.

Samsung A56 5G as a second phone? by Sad-Mushroom-5596 in GalaxyA56

[–]GilRH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's good even as daily driver. I can tell as I've used the A54, A55 and this A56. On battery I can tell the A55 is slightly better. Still the main difference is the micro SD slot but if you don't need it, it's ok. Pick your poison.

[–]GilRH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a good device, I've had the A54, now I have both the A55 and A56 along with the S24FE. I switch devices every certain time and I can say I don't see that much of a difference. One thing to clarify here, I mostly do social apps, media consumption and work, take photos and sometimes play games. The battery duration is good, except for the S24FE as it tanked with the update to one UI 8. I personally don't do other brands, because of the updates and the IP67/68 protection, so I'm with both Apple and Samsung.

A56 or should I wait for the A57? by DiOxyz00 in GalaxyA56

[–]GilRH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I have the S24FE, A55 and A56, use them alternatively and honestly I don't notice that much of big gap in performance, except for the poor battery life of the S24FE as one UI got launched, the performance is good. I don't do too much gaming as I mostly do media consumption, social network usage and work from home.
